2000 Infiniti I30: Muffler Help, Please

Well after 205K I started hearing a low muffler type growl just underneath the front of the car. Obviously there's a hole somewhere. It's not very loud. I know the car has 3 Cats on it, with sensors I'm assuming before and after on each cat (?). I haven't located the leak yet. Perhaps it will just be a hole that can be welded shut, but in case in isn't I wanted to ask some questions ahead of time.

1) In case it is one of the cats, is it very difficult to remove them and just put straight pipes in their place?

2) Do you have to do something special with the sensors so the car doesn't go wonky?

3) If it isn't one of the cats can I just leave them on the car, or should I start thinking about removing them and replacing them with straight pipes?

Any help, suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Maybe its your flex pipe you have to lift up your car to check.

If I was you i'll just go ahead and get some headers ,i will get noticeably louder in a good way ,not too much.

Take it to a muffler shop they can pinpoint the leak once it's up in the air, usually free of charge if you lead them to believe you gonna pay for them to fix it.

As far as the o2 sensors you might have to get antifoulersor o2 sim's.

I know it's been awhile but I wanted to update this thread of mine. I finally got some extra cash and the car is in the shop getting the muffler issues fixed. Retention pipe, new muffler, clamps, gaskets and labor ... $465. So much for the extra money, lol
