Rubbery acceleration even with new mounts.
Rubbery acceleration even with new mounts.
So I have been having a small issue with my drivetrain feeling a bit wobbly the past few months. When accelerating or deaccelerating the car will kinda bounce back and fourth while in the first 3 gears and reverse, the last 2 gears aren't so bad. (5spd). I suspected the subframe and crossmember were the cause so I used the washer trick to tie them solid and it got rid of almost all of the banging that would happening while using the clutch. My engine and tranny mounts are all new but of a lesser brand and advertised for the A/T model (I couldn't use the driver side mount due to this so I bought a new trans mount) Is is possible the A/T mounts use a different hardness then the manual ones or my control arms need changing? What do lca's feel like when they are failing?

Im still trying to figure out if it's even the mounts giving me the issue. When perfectly rev matching there isn't a single wobble at all. I don't know what a failing lca feels like either. I can hear slight thud under the passenger side wheel well when the rubbery feeling occurs.

How do I know? I have an AT Maxima; I disconnected my mounts about a year ago to avoid the well-known ECU damage. Ever since then, I have the (not so) occasional in-line vibration, weak or strong, depending how I step on the gas, when I step on the gas, ... .
Since your car is a Manual, I would strongly suggest installing MT mounts. Why did you even think about AT mounts ?? Makes no sense to me.
I had replaced all four mounts and the only reason I resorted to these specific mounts was because it was 80 bucks for the front rear and passenger mounts and needed to be on the road asap on a budget. I'm going to fill the mounts to see if it does . The front and rear mounts look exactly like M/T mounts because they are wireless, just rubber and metal. I didn't know it was for an auto until I had recieved the parts and saw the odd looking trans mount there.

Since you have the AT mounts in place, let me offer this option to you:

Just swapped my AT 2000 over to these after picking up the cheapest MT mounts on Rockauto.

Ordering poly engine inserts this Friday along with the poly lca bushings to get rid of this dreaded looseness.
Speaking of looseness those steering Colum bushings get hella loose! I thought i had terrible torque steer, but what I have almost 3" of play turning the steering wheel while the car is off before the wheels budge, needless to say I contacted a vendor and he still carries the hardened steering colum bushing so I'll be grabbing that too for 30 shipped
