Got this in very good shape muffler ,off a org member. Gonna make something real nice.
So that's a 5th gen muffler? 00/01 or 02/03? Don't those have a 2.25" inlet? I never had great luck (in terms of sound quality) running OEM mufflers (first 00/01, then G35 sedan) with aftermarket pipes and/or no cat. But maybe not having the cat was the problem.....after installing a cat with a Cattman muffler the car sounds perfect!

Inlet (blue arrow at top right) - on the early 5th gens at least - measures 2" OD at the muffler. I just measured it, and the internals of yours should look like this (it's a "dual-mode" muffler, Nissan claimed an extra 5 HP as used on the Max 20AE and maybe on any V6 Infinity models,)

I haven't driven the car in months. But the exhaust with the stock style b pipe and SRS muffler sounds great.
But i can't stand listening to it. When i puyt the northern ss b pipe on ,it probably cut the noise by half.

It's a 00-01 muffler, but it's also the I30 muffler and those things are quiet. I do have a main cat, not precats. That could be the problem ,i'll find out........

One thing I found when I cut the one off my 20AE off was that the spring that holds the flap in the 'quiet' position seemed awfully stiff . . . as in, I wondered whether a 3.0L engine would have been capable of producing enough exhaust volume to actually open it without first choking on the backpressure.

You did a seriously amazing job on that car! Just out of curiosity did you estimate the total amount of hours you spent re building it?

Thank you.

I will get new pictures of the current car. But i put a better way trunk on since then. That one was rusty and damaged.

The brakes are new so when they go bad i have bigger brakes from a newer maxima. Also like i said i will be changing the exhaust .

I have cleaned the interior since then.

A guess 200-300 hours? Cleaning parts ,welding..... hard to tell.

I actually did it fairly cheap. If you don't count the ECU frying($200), and the time i spent $800 (nissan master cylinder ,included in this price) because the calipers a put on the wrong side.

I think ,these are not exact :
car $1300
Engine $1000
paint + foam $300
crossmember $230
hood, front bumber ,rear bumper $300
Trunk, seats rear and front ,carpet, interior trim $165
Lights led side markers $25
Steering rack $100
Radiator and condenser $150
Misc parts $300
Exhaust SRS, that i am cutting up $340
Northern SS b-pipe $75
Stock muffler that i am converting $100
Y-pipe $150
Ebay headers $55
OK i sold some things from the car.

They gave me the engine harness with the engine.
I did not use it. SOLD for $255
Stock lower Intake Manifold SOLD for $250 (yes somebody on ebay did pay that much)
Also sold the stock flexplate on the I30 engine SOLD $65

I may have sold or bought other things but this is a real close estimate.

Thanks.. but i am sure that you won't have to deal with the rust. I will never get a northern car,to work on again.

Updated the prices forgot a few things.

Oh if anybody remembers the 02 maxima i was working on. It's totaled, daughter hit two telephone poles .

Took out both of them. Even with a bad crossmember car held up well. The emergency people on the scene said the car was very well built. Many people die from that type of accident.

I'll post some pictures later.

Ok i have been getting parts for the 6 speed swap. I am also working on a 05 Armada so it will take longer for the 6 speed.

Here's a link to club armada.
https://www.clubarmada.com/threads/p...-2#post-580157

I have the passenger axle from a 02-03 but i will probably use an 04-06 axles and axle bracket. I also have the body transmission mount. And the 02 shifter assembly and cables and shift ****. I also have the interior trim for the 6 speed.

I have the 04 stuff but it wasn't a direct fit. So now i have the 02-03 stuff.

Yeah my transmission is on the way out. I had a low mileage 5 speed,i was gonna use. But there was a crack in it's case from someone dropping it. So i had it welded by a guy ,not someone a usually use . This guy instead of using a small aluminum patch , just tig welded the trans case. The problem with that is the case is very thin, and he welded so deep he did damage to the transmission.

You can't find a good 5 speed ,so a 6 speed it is.

It's easy to find a 6 speed transmission ,but all the other stuff is almost impossible .

That's why I keep a low mileage VLSD 5 speed in my shed as a backup for the Quaife trans What's the hard stuff to find for the 6 speed, shift linkage?

The shifter assembly is the hardest to find then the cables.

I recommend to start looking now for those . It took me 2 years to find them. If you don't start now you will never find them.

I noticed the plastic shield that goes in the wheel well isn't there. There are two on the 4th and 5th gen. I smaller one and a much bigger one. Bigger one wasn't on it.

I'am cleaning up the rear wheel wells now. I did end up ordering a new lateral link also.
And the lateral link bracket ,is gonna get repaired.

With the wheel wells i cut the worse metal out ,then re frame it so the shape is back. Then the inside will be filled from the back with POR 15 and their mesh. Then front covered over with fiberglass bondo. If you look at the 2nd 3rd 4th 7th and 8th picture the rocker is getting repaired. it was bad there.

There are 100% no bushings in that picture and Nissan puts no bushings back there. If you look in the previous unpainted pictures, you will see it's steel and it's on the part from the factory. And on the bottom where the bolts are, there are washers on these bolts.

The reason i reused the part and fixed it up , because there is not one available. I sold this car, that is what brought me back. Working on a Armada now.

new owner checking in, the car is still in amazing condition and rides very smooth on the roads minus a transmission bearing issue and a few seals which are getting done in the near future, this car aged very well krismax has done amazing work on this car.
