Aftermarket radio with no sound
Aftermarket radio with no sound
I have an 03 maxima with aftermarket radio and i have no sound i did when i first installed the radio then it would come and go then finally went out completely so i put new speakers in and ran my on wire so there was no issue but still nothing
i cheacked the fuse in the dash and under the hood there both good and my radio didnt come with a spot for a fuse which was suprising....did not use a store bought harness adapter but everything it wire right according to nissans diagram and ran speaker wire myself thinking i had a break in mine somewhere but no help

radio display works like it should and i bought another radio exactly like it to see if it was the radio and that one does the same thing ...im thinking even though i dont have a amp i still might have to have that special harness ....but it didnt have one before i put a new radio in .....the last aftermarket radio worked fine
Is it just the radio portion that does not work? Do you get sound when you play a CD?
Was the original Nissan radio a Bose or non-Bose?
You said you did not use a store bought harness adapter. Did you cut the Nissan wire harness connectors off and connect directly to the harness?

Since you put in new speakers and ran new wires between the radio and the speakers, I can't think of anything external to the radio. It is either the radio or you don't have the wiring correct.
I know you said it worked way back originally and that you have also changed the radio. But if everything is good, you would not have the problem. Something is wrong/bad, but I don't know what.
What I do in cases like this is take the radio out of the car and hook it up to speakers on my workbench and see if it works there. That will show you something and you can focus on what that shows you.
Here is something to try before pulling the radio out. Hook up a ground wire from a chassis ground spot that is NOT in the dash and connect it to the radio chassis.
