Sunroof Windnoise

Hello, I have a question about my 2002 max sunroof. It can tilt - but can no longer move back and forth. In addition, there is a strong gush of windy noise coming from the top of the sunroof because it is not sitting flush with the top of the roof - one part - the front side sits about 1/2 inch lower / deeper into the roof. So I have two problems:

1. the roof being inoperable - back/front
2. not sitting flush leading to windnoise.

How do I handle the first problem ?

With regard to the 2nd problem, shift-ice's direction (http://www.shiftice.com/sunroof_wind_noise_fix.html) indicates that I can get a metal shim to adjust the height. But the shims are now very expensive. The average price per one is about $7 to $10 (see here: https://www.google.com/search?client...&q=91249-50J10). Is there any where else to get this cheaper or any other type of shim to get to do this?

I appreciate your thoughts - thanks - noela

Is your motor toast?

Did you try a reset procedure?

Is seven dollars really that expensive?

I thought the reset procedure works only when tilt and open/close malfunction. I will try it out later tonight.

Yes, I thought the $7 was expensive for one piece of the shim, particularly given that I do not konw how many I would need.... I wanted to search for alternatives before making a purchase.

thanks - Noela

It's a shim. Make your own.

The glass is really easy to take out. 4 10mm nuts. You have something else wrong if it's down a half inch.
