New steering column; now it will crank, not fire!
My boyfriend beat the ignition out of my 2000 Maxima GLE. I went into the junkyard and got another steering column. The right key came with it and now all it'll do when you try to start it is crank, but it would just won't fire so I was wondering if this could be something to do with the fuel relay? Does anyone have anything helpful? Thank you.
If the key you are now using came with the steering column, it is not recognized by the NATS security system and therefore the car will not start. If you look at the red security led in with the clock, it is on while you are trying to start the car. You need to call a locksmith and have him program the key into your car's security system. Have him make you an extra key while he is there.
Maybe, no guarantees here, if you hold the original key to the steering column between the dash and the ignition switch, you might be able to start the car.
