Changing Auto Transmission Filter/Strainer: Stubborn Bolt
I hope I am not the first one here to experience this issue. I recently decided to replace the worn/damaged transmission oil pan. While I was at it, I also decided to replace the filter/strainer. So far, I have removed the fluid pan and all but one of the bolts holding in the filter/strainer. However, I have come across one bolt that is ... not a bolt. It has no head, and it is held in with a nut. When I try to loosen this nut, it just spins (with some resistance), but the bolt spins with it, and it does not move. Any ideas on how to get this thing loose? Any advice would be appreciated.
Here is the bolt/nut I am talking about

Reason: Added arrow to clarify which bolt I am referring to.
No dice. Tried the pliers and cutting a groove. That thing is really stubborn. Has anyone had experience with this bolt before? Please tell me there's a way to get this bolt off.
for rounded things with no room for vice grips hit the nut at an angle
with a chisel or screw driver turning it anticlockwise.
the tool will dig into the nut and the impact will probably break it loose.
hope that helps it usually does work.
you know what. idk now because it's just a stud in cast aluminum. idk just try it if all else fails.
Alright, well, it's off. I tried everything I could think of. I had a mobile mechanic come by to see they could do it. They had it off in 15 minutes. They had to break off that stud, so I'm just going to leave it like that and hope nothing goes wrong. I guess I don't see a problem with leaving one of the bolts off.
The Nissan engineer that came up with that design needs to be put in jail. That was ridiculously difficult.

Jatco makes the trannies, but nissan owns a majority of the shares.
