Hood Shakes at Highway Speed

Hood Shakes at Highway Speed
I have a 2001 Infiniti I30 which is similar to the Max; just wondering if any of you have experienced hood vibrating when traveling above 60 mph. From my vantage point, it looks like the hood might pop open while driving. Once, got out the car and checked on the hood by popping it open and closing again, but still experiencing same issue. Could it be a motor mounts issue? Car is over 20 yo, and I have not replaced them yet...Thx

The hood latch has some adjustment to it. You can unbolt two 10mm bolts (if i remember correctly) and slide the latch further down toward the ground. That pulls the hood tighter against the two rubber bump stops on the outer edges of the upper radiator support. Speaking of the rubber bump stops, check those. My original ones tore and I replaced them with some bump stops from a 1998 Chevy Tahoe. They're much beefier than the originals and can be found at basically any junk yard (Tahoe, Suburban, Sierra, Silverado, Yukon all have the same part).
Another common problem related to hood flutter is the bracing on the underside of the hood has some tack welds that break loose from the hood's sheet metal. Not much you can do about that unless you wanna do some body work.

this is a common thing, the gromments that hold the hood at a certain point wear out, buy new ones. you can then adjust them so the gap of the hood to the headlights/bumper is satisfactory.
if you pop open the hood, you can see the two black grommets on either side along the rad support behind the headlights.

I had a hood pop up on me and a friend in our teens in his old beat up Mazda truck. That thing was a huge POS. We were doing like, 60. We just looked at each other, laughed, stuck our heads out the door windows and kept going. Almost as if we were expecting it to occur at some point anyway. We beat that truck all to hell and back. Most fun I've ever had in cars were in the biggest pieces of **** we ever owned. I remember driving by his house one day and he's standing up in the bed of that truck with a sawzall cutting the roof off of it. Don't see that every day. Once we drove it to the gas station to put air in all four completely flat tires. Like no air at all. It felt like a boat. That was the same day we took the doors off it. It was summer and it didn't have AC. Much cooler driving around without doors.
