the actual sensor inside the MAF tube extends almost the entire diameter of the tube. That is what i meant by the long sensor. I will post build date as soon as I get it back from nissan.

Anyone who is having the CEL problem try this:

I have had K&N on two cars. The CEL was triggered on my Explorer and here is what I did to fix:

1)Remove air box and MAF.
2)If possible (it is possible on early model Explorers) remove the MAF.
3)Take a Q-tip and spray with Carb/Choke Cleaner. Swab the MAF contacts. On the Explorer, there are two wires (like light bulb filaments).
4)Replace MAF.
5)Use paper towel to 'blot' any extra oil from the filter (both sides).
6)Replace filter.

Ford says the MAF gets 'burned out' as well, but this is not true. Cleaning the oil off fixes the problem.
