New Max SE Owner with some questions
I just picked up my MAX SE today and I noticed a couple of things that I did not pick up on in the test drive.
1. Does anyone else like the steering wheel low to put your hand on top of it when driving? This seems to block the speedometer from 60 - 100. To have the Speed O visable you have to raise it way up.
2. Is there anything aftermarket to help with the tourque Steer?
3. Still trying to get the auto lights setup right.
Other then that so far I love the max. It is fast and power is always ready at alomost any speed.
Thanks....

1. Hands grip the wheel at 10 and 2.
2. Nope. be thankful you have torque! Instead of a torqueless Honduh.
3. Some people have popped off the cover on the light sensor and coloured it in with a sharpie. That may help you out. I personally don't have any issues with mine at all.

I've never gotten the lights to work right, but I really don't bother.
As for the wheel position, I have problems like this in all of my cars, however, the max has the heart of the gauge (60MPH) right at the peak, my others have 100+ up there.
No aftermarket support for the torque steer that I know of.

Once you become very used to the torque steer (and almost everybody eventually does), you automatically adjust for it without even thinking. I consider torque steer to be a gentle reminder that I am lucky enough to be sitting on one heck of an engine with lots of power.
As to the steering wheel, I have always steered with my right hand at the 4:00 to 5:00 position (left hand resting or holding map, etc) unless in heavy traffic or tight situations. This was a serious problem on my 2K Maxima, which had a W--I--D--E spoke at that very position. I had carpal problems with my right hand from splitting my fingers across that spoke for hours on end for the last four years. I absolutely LOVE the spoke positions on the '04 Maxima.
