hard-wiring radar

I am hard wiring a new radar and I'm going to use a 3M clamp to the ignition wire (white/blue)... can someone comment on this for me? (Good idea/bad idea) Thanks!!

You should have no problems connecting it to the ignition wire. I personally don't like T-taps, scotchguard locks, or whatever else they are called. I would strip some of the insulation from the ignition wire, wrap the other wire around it, solder it, and then wrap the connection with electrical tape.

But, when installed correctly, the T-tap method will work just as good...it's really up to you.

Good Luck.

Thanks for the link... but truthfully it does not apply to my situation- I DID check the sticky and saw that previously. What I am doing is running a Passport Escort smart cord to my IGNITION wire and putting the mute box near the IGNITION. So, thanks for the suggestion, but if anyone can coment on this config... let me know. Thanks

Look, you guys have a pretty cool forum here- There is a ton of knowledge and enthusiasim. I appreciate the suggestions and welcomes, but why would you erase a perfectly respectable post? (Not to mention a post regarding WIRING- The topic of the thread) Like most forums I participate in- I like to support (donate), but I like to first feel like moderators are unbiased and the community sociable. Thanks again for the suggestions.

THIS is a bit off topic.. sorry.

b/c this is a general info thread which could branch off in so many ways. I'm trying to prevent 10 convos at once. usually I get complaints for locking reposts or merging threads, for once i suggest to start a new one....

usually once something is a Sticky, it's locked anyways to prevent this. I've let it open get it nice and complete.

here, i feel nice today. plus it would have been a lot easier for you to start a new thread then what i did to separate it.
