6th Gen Question?

I have a 01 se and lately the look of the 6th gen has been growing on me. I just want to ask everyone how they like they 6th gen( wether 04-05-06). I thinking of upgrading and want to know how everyone likes they car? Maybe a quick Pro/Cons on the car. Also how much WHP does a bone stock 6th gen have.

thanks for the input

I have a 05 with all the options except for the Elite package and I love everything about my car.

No complaints.

I have an 05 se with most options but elite and nav system. I love it. It looks like nothing else on the road so it does not have that cookie cutter look like honda and toyota. It is fun as H*ll to drive. No Complaints from me either. I would recommend it to anyone. I don't think the year buy will make a difference. I believe they are pretty much the same.

I have an 05 SE automatic with Driver Preferred package (which includes the Sensory pkg). No Nav or VDC or sunroof. I like the sky-view better.
The only thing not on the car that I did want was the traction control but it's standard on the newer 05's and on the 06's

From the 05:
S03 Driver Preferred Package
Includes leather appointed seats, 4-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors, compass in rearview mirror, rear spoiler, Xenon high intensity discharge headlights, heated power tilt/telescoping steering wheel with memory, driver's seat with 2-position memory, auto entry/exit system and power folding exterior door mirrors with memory.
R02 Sensory Package
Includes 320-watt Bose AM/FM stereo, cassette player, 6-disc in-dash CD player, 8 Bose speakers including 2 woofers, radio data system, speed sensitive volume control, leather appointed seats, 4-way power passenger seat, heated front seats, heated exterior mirrors and compass in rearview mirror.

What's New for 2006
Steering wheel audio controls are now illuminated, satellite radio is available and the navigation interface has been improved for 2006. New options include a Bluetooth hands-free system and outside mirror tilt-down in reverse.

I always liked the 5th Gen max and still do. I really liked the 6th Gen when they came out. Power, class, style, quality. You own a Maxima so you probaly know what I mean.

If I had to do it again, I certainly would!

04 SE, hot to trot, all options including NAVI, no elite, didn't want, I like the extra back seat room. Overall extremely happy with my ride...

I have a 04 SE with DPP and sunroof. I really like the car. I have taken several 400+ miles trips and the car is very smooth on the road. It is also VERY responsive at all speeds. In the time I have owned it, I only had one issue. That was the glove box alignment. However, I haven't even bothered to fix it since it is so minor.

Well, after having our 05 SE for 5 days, we're still happy with it.

Things I like:

The POWER
The ride and handling
The memory seat, steering wheel, and mirrors
The overall appearance, both inside and out
The BOSE stereo system sounds pretty good to me

Only dislike:

I wish Nissan had done a better job addressing the torque steer. It's manageable and a relatively minor price to pay for the power of the sweet V6, but it could be better.

Things I wish the car had:

Ventilated front seats.
Reclining rear seats.
Gauges that move up and down with the tilt steering column ala the G35.
Illuminated steering wheel controls (added for 06 models)
A way to turn on all of the interior lights without opening a door (this may be possible and we just haven;t found it yet)
Power port for rear seat.
AWD

Why not go for a 06 Max?

I own a 06 SE, loving it every minute.

Before I bought my brand new 05 about two and a half months about, I looked at the 06 and quickly realized that the changes were not worth paying two more grand.

Power port for rear seat.

Just a FYI.

Thanks for the heads up. But are you sure about the ventilated seats? I mean the kind with embedded fans that literally blow air through the seat to cool your backside. I don't see that anywhere on the list of options. We saw them on the Avalon Limited and Infiniti M35x, but nowhere on the Maxima.

Sorry, I thought ventilated seats were the leather seats with holes in them which made it ventilated.

I think you mean air conditioned seats right? That's what I have on my 04 Navigator, heated and cooled seats.

No matter what, the Max is an awesome car, luxury like with economy money.

05 SE Auto

Just about 6K miles on it - it is great.
Torque steer? I had a 02 SE without TC - now let's talk about torque steer! With the TC system on - the torque steer so many comment on is certainly manageable - at least for this guy.
I love putting other people in their place - in particular those F150/250/350 guys who drive like they own the road - let's not forget those is suburbans/tahoes/.
Now come winter - i will wish for AWD! Guess then, they will put me in my place.
Love my Max!

Love my 04. Ready to get more mods for it. You asked about the WHP, there have ben few dynos, especially stock. I dont think the mods added on the charts ive seen made a huge difference and I think they make about 5-10 more hp stock than the 02-03 maxima.

04 sl and loving it. Just waiting on my drilled/slotted rotors to come in. The torque steer thing doesn't bother me because I don't accelerate that hard I like to just cruise along and step on it when I need it. It feels good to have power on reserve these cars have come a long way. I still have my 95 se and it gives ma a blast from the past during my regular commute. Hope you get one and enjoy it we do.

don't let your wife read this.. it almost sounds as if you used your maxima to go see the girl who you cheated with.

05 Sl

I have about 23K miles on my 05 SL. It has a great engine and good power. the car is comfortable, though sometimes I wish it rode a little more smoothly and a little more quietly (I do a lot of phone work while driving so am sensitive about these considerations). The dreaded torque steer has never been an issue for me, even when I have tried to induce it. I think the layout of the center panel control buttons is not the most user-friendly, and I don't so much care for the faux suede material that Nissan used to cover much of the interior panels. In fact, where my left knee rests against the door when I drive is starting to show some wear on the fauz suede material. I really like the roominess of the car and the Bose system is good, though not necessarily, in my opinion, a true "premium" sound system. The solid and smooth feel of the car won me over when I test drove it. I have had only one maintenance problem (catalytic converter bracket was loose and cracked-the dealership handled it-still under warranty and Nissan had issued a TSB regarding the problem). I would encourage you to review the TSB "sticky" string. I think you would like the Maxima, though I'm not sure what else you might be looking at. I also like the heated seats and steering wheel, and the auto dimming mirrors. I have everything but navi and subscription radion on my car. One more thing, there seems to be a quite considerable decrease in gas mileage comparing highway driving to city driving. It is sometimes concerning that I have to fill up so soon driving around town.

Good luck on your purchase decision.

Not that I am a speed demon or anything like that. But today while I was driving I was following this Lexus GS400 on the highway (Following not racing). And when I went to glance at my speedometer I noticed that I was going about 105 and it only felt like I was going 60. My point is, this car is the BOMB!

Tv In Dash Upgrade?

Iv'e got an 04 maxima SE with the factory bose system. Just wondering if its possible to use the factory system and an in dash tv/dvd player? Or if its one or the other? So i don't lose the steering wheel options for the factory stereo and 6disc changer. Auxillary switch?

I have an 04 SL and have every available option except for the navigation. I am considering shopping around to swap out the standard burnt orange look for the navigation. Is this even possible? Does anyone know of anybody who has done this? I am sure it will cost me a good amount of money, just curios. Any ideas???????

I have had my '05 SE 6speed now for a few months....sensory package, sunroof, 18" wheels, and I love the thing. I had a '96 SE 5speed awhile ago, and the differences are night and day. When they first came out, I HATED the looks of it, much preferred the 5th gens, but this has definitely grown on me. Kind of a Euro flair with its own style. Some colors do look better than others, though.

Things I like:

The power. The 6 speed just boots *** and gets you out of any situation quickly.

The ride and handling is awesome.

The overall appearance, both inside and out- this thing gets tons of looks.

The BOSE stereo system sounds pretty good to me also- I run my Ipod and an XM MyFi thru it and it sounds pretty good for the way I am running it.

Decent fit for a big guy (6'4" 280)

Typical Nissan reliability- this is my 8th Nissan, all have gone over 100K with minimal effort, and I know my '82 280ZX (my dad bought brand new in '82) ended up going over 300K and only was taken off the road because the body and frame rotted out- the engine was still going strong.

Dislikes:

Some of the trim is a bid on the cheap side, especially for a $30K car. Mine is currently about to have the trim around the driver door replaced because the plastic keeps coming apart and I keep pulling it with my jeans/pants. The fleece lining is also a bit cheesy...if they wanted it to look like suede they should have just used suede.

This car NEEDS another power outlet or two, especially in the back. Kids want to plug in their Ipods, PSP's etc and I run my stuff....not enough places to do all that!!!

I do notice some front wheel pullong also when I really stomp on it.

All in all, you just cannot go wrong getting one.
