Unfortunately you were misinformed. A remote start functions the same way as turning your key...sending 12V to the starter. Just via a module rather than key cylinder.

I just had one intalled in Brooklyn for $175 total. It is intergrated into OEM keyfob so I don't have any more remotes hanging with my keys. It also has the anti-grinding feature included in price.

Why would you have additional remotes if you did a full system? One remote will still control all and it wouldnt be the severly lacking range OEM one.

I didn't do a full system. I didn't want an extra alarm cause I already invested in LO-JACK. There is a simple mod to increase a range on the OEM remote....besides I don't need to start the car from a mile away. Why would I park the car a mile away??????

I know you didnt do a full system, you post said:

and I asked why would you have any 'more' remotes hanging IF you did do a full system. One remote will do all. Noone mentioned anything about a mile range. Your car is still fairly new and the range should be decent enough for now. You Will notice in time that it Will get shorter. Some to the extent of needing to be 10ft away, which utterly defeats the purpose of having a remote start.

Oh and LoJack is Not an alarm in any shape of the word. It is Only if the entire vehicle is stolen AND you report within a short period of time.

i have the OEM keyfob and LO-Jack remote already hanging. I didn't want another remote just for the remote-starter. I know what you are saying about a full system that it would replace my OEM remote but I didn't want to spend 300-500 bucks. $175 fit my budget really nice.

I understand how Lo-JACK works and think its a great device. To test it i left the remote at home and took the car for a ride. About a mile down the road I get a call on my home, cell, my brothers phone, my fathers phone and an e-mail. It would take me another 5 minutes to check if the vehicle is still in front of the house and report it stolen. Once my battery run out in the LO-Jack remote and I had my brother, mother and father calling me to check on the car, LOL
