anyone else do something liek this?

That's exactly how I've done it for my last 4 trips from DC to Boston. I keep it in my console, then on the trip, I set it on the dash. I used to hold it up to the window as I passed until I figured out that it works perfectly sitting on the dash. That way, I have it when I need it and it's out of the way when i don't.

3 years+ up in the tint area with no problems. IMO the license plate look Fugly and more susceptible to theft...

If they steal it, EZ pass owns it and will replace it anyway. Furthermore, the license plate is photographed and compared against the EZ pass everytime you use it, so unless they steal my car too it is useless...and if it was gone when i got to my car I make one phonecall and deactivate it. I think the inside windshield one looks terrible so its worth that small risk to me..i've never heard of an ez pass stolen & most people dont even know what it is anyway.

EZ pass owns the inside one as well and every vehicle regardless of sensor is photographed. The EZ pass system will not immediately stop another vehicle from using your pass because I have popped mine out (several times) and taken it with me in my brother in laws SUV and I used it all the way up to NYC, Maine and back. Unless you call EZ pass to report your sensor stolen, it WILL remain activated and CAN be used if stolen (you may just not be liable if stolen and THEN the EZ pass VID is used to prove it was used on another vehicle). Last, from the outside of my vehicle you cannot see it, the EZ pass bulky plate is pretty obvious...

My sensor is not an exterior eye sore...

I can't take someone seriously with sentences as bad as this:
"EZ pass owns the inside one as well and every vehicle regardless of sensor is photographed."

If mine was stolen I would immediately call and have it deactivated. My sensor is not an interior eye sore, but having a plate at all in front is an eyesore so it really dosent help much by not having the exterior tag.

Mine's mounted in the inside, directly stuck on top of the DOT Matrix crap. No issues.
