Yup, and a different car all together. I love those posts though... "How can I make my car (x) sound like car y?

All right fellas. I went through this whole process. The stock resonator is huge for a reason. It does its job very well. I guess it all depends on your tolerance level for the interior noise. Mine was very low. When I had my Magnaflows installed, I took out the stock resonator and had a straight pipe installed in its place. Sound was really good but the drone was killin' me.

The cruise missile that is under your car

Then I had a Magnaflow resonator installed. It cut down the noise but the drone was still there

Model #10436

That lasted for a month before I had the original resonator reinstalled. I value my peace and quiet.

Model #14816 installed

I did the same thing except I added a second resonator. Most of my catback exhaust is resonator.

This very setup (same phone number) is for sale in the 6th gen for sale forum. That post says it will, but other than that, I don't know. You might want to call him if he is a forum member.

Removing the resonator and keeping the stock muffler doesn't imporve the sound. I had that set up for a year. The Altima SE-R mufflers will make your car sound pretty close to the G. They are single tips though.

i've had a couple of different exhaust setups. my first set up was the nismo catback which ended up being too loud. next, i went with a cattman y-pipe, 2.5 inch piping to the split, and 22" cattman resonator with the stock mufflers. it wasn't loud at all and made me miss the exhaust sound.

http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generation-maxima-2004-2008/583030-y-pipe-custom-b-pipe-installed-pics.html

b-pipe is still for sale btw...

i planned on getting the greddy se last year but it was out of production for a few months so i ended pulled the trigger on the ebay catback system. i still have it on my car. i swapped out the tips for some oval resonated ones and painted the mufflers black. it's definitely not as loud as the nismo and it's got the right amount of sound to keep me and the wife happy. i think the only thing "cheap" about it is the price.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7x0HC...eature=channel I have 9 clips, some are not all that wonderful to watch due to me trying to drive and record at the same time. I have a better camera now and will try and record a better vid if you guys want. I have an ebay exhaust without a the center piece that is pictured above. Looks very clean and sounds amazing. I turn many heads with this car including 350z's. My buddy owns a g35 and wants my ebay exhaust put on his car, so if that doesn't convince you I don't know how else to do it. I will get more clips up.

ok.. a bit old thread but i have a question.... are the magnaflow 14816 mufflers bolt on or weld on? if it is bolt on, is it easy to do? i have never messed up with an exhaust system before so pardon for the ignorance... thanks guys...

Gollum67>> how does the 14816 exhaust tips stick out from your rear bumper.. if you have a side pic on how it looks, it would really help... because im thinking on getting either the 14816 or the 14805

Weld. The muffler shop can adjust so it sticks out as much or as little as you'd like.

You jut have to know what to look for. These will fit the 04-08 Max, just need to extend the pipe like 12 inches I think.

magnaflow

I was looking at buying this magnaflow for my 04, but I am very new to this stuff, and I dont know if the stock pipes are 2.5 inch inlet? can I buy this muffler and then use my stock tips? would it still sound just as good using stock tips? sorry if this sounds like dumb questions. i want to learn more about this stuff. thanks for any help.
