im still nervious about the res cuz like i said my dad drives the car. and i cant have loud cabin noise. like im trying to get 0% drone. so im gonna put the mufflers first and see how loud it is then ill think about the res.
i wanna get it right the first shot i dont wanna cut it and then re-weld it again.
That's a smart way to go about it. I'm sure you will end up putting the resonator on though. Good luck with it though! Let's see some pics!

Well i didnt add any res yet but i will tell you this if you want 0 drone then dont add any res , i add it just the magnaflows and i can hear it and it have a nice tone to it , so i think if you add just the mufflers you will be fine with that trust thats the set up i have going and i like it but i will add res soon want to hear it a lil louder.

Hmmm, well you want to add the res but you don't know how it sounds. You are missing out my friend on the res. There is no drone WHATSOEVER in my car and it is not louder at all. If you add the model resonator in the thread your exhaust will NOT be louder. TRUST in that because that is my setup. As long as we are all happy with what we got though it's all good. I'm just saying that you will be happy if you add this resonator MAXPRIME. NOT the smaller one though, the 12640 only! ALL GOOD FUN THOUGH!

Understood. But the factory resonator is SOOOO restrictive. I won't explain it anymore but I hope you try it with the 12640. You'll see bud.....

Hmm, ok, what is it that you don't like about the welds? I mean I guess you can only see clearly the welds on the resonator but I'm curious what you are seeing that I may not be. It is sealed up nice and tight with no leaks.

I have a similar setup with 14807 mufflers instead, but I also have the 12640 resonator. While I really like the tone I want it to be louder from the outside. Currently still w/stock B-pipe but I'm planning to get 2.5" piping over spring break. Will that change volume at all? Or should I just get a smaller resonator and that will make it louder but with similar tone?

The problem about getting a smaller resonator is that it will be unbearably loud inside the cabin of the car. It sounds soooo bad. It's the drone that will make you instantly take it back off. The best way I could see getting louder exhaust is the larger piping. But If you are going to actually modify it then I would personally go with 3" or 2.75" at a minimum. Good luck!

im not expert at this but for somereason the ebay sounds really good on your year. im just saying this becasue i use to have ebay and i have 2007 and that thing was loud inside. but your car would be perfect since your transmission is different. or do u have intake? that might change the tone a little. (again im not expert im just giving u suggestions)

The difference is using that 6" round muffler versus a 4" round....I'll measure the stock resonator diameter and try to duplicate it the resonator size with a magnaflow of equavilent brand ON OUR 5.5th Gen.....

I agree those mufflers are hanging too low from the car...

HA, well RAZ was talking about how he thinks it doesn't look good having the stock rusty looking exhaust welded to the new steel exhaust. On this point I agree with him. But I think RAZ and EVERYONE else knows that the exhaust is not low. It is the same height as factory if you know what you are looking at. Stay stupid my friend, lol.

Im going to have to disagree, I put the smaller size Magnaflow resonator(14in as opposed to 16in IIRC) on my 4th gen and it doesn't have drone at all. I could be wrong but I think good quality muffler does more to eliminate drone but still sound good more so than a resonator.

No, I don't have a video of mine. But your setup sounds sweet!

And after riding in my friend's Accord w/fart cannon muffler I can definitely say I don't care about the outside volume as much as I do having a reasonable cabin volume w/no drone which is what I have and what I'm happy with. I'll just do the piping for now and wait until after I get y-pipe and headers before reconsidering a smaller res

6in round 27in long worth of resonator. Anyone have the stock res measurements?

This Mag 12640 seems pretty beefy.

Yes, it is beefier, about 20% larger than the factory resonator. However, there is PLENTY of room for it and fits perfectly in place with no modifications to the car and no contact with the heat shield. The circumference is not so big that it is close to the ground or anything. The ground clearance compared to the factory resonator is an inch at most.
