Aluminum Engine Splash Shield
Aluminum Engine Splash Shield.
Hey check this out, took the plunge and decided to make a more permanent fix to my ragged Front Bumper Lower Engine Splash Shield. I know I’ve replaced it at least once from the dealer. If I remember right it was around $90.
Our cars are naturally low, and then 90% drop them on springs, sorry to admit but I still scrap it on parking blocks etc even though I try to be careful. Bottom line, I ended up ruining my lower engine splash shield. I think twice in since I bought it in 2004.
You can get cheaper versions on Ebay but let me warn you, I made that mistake when it came to fender liners for the front. $15each, the arrived rolled up in a little ball in a small box, super cheap and flimsy. Be careful ordering plastic parts from EBay
Anyway, I ordered the aluminum version, it's really light weight. If it weighs much more than the plastic one, I'd be surprised. I'll weigh them later.

IT ARRIVED SUPER FAST AND WELL PACKAGED

IT EVEN INCLUDED THE CLIPS I NEED TO INSTALL IT

BUBBLE WRAPPED NICELY

A REAL QUALITY PIECE CAN’T WAIT TO INSTALL IT NEXT WEEK

AWESOME

Believe it or not I'm using 5.5th gen splash shields on my 4th gen....They are identical in many ways ! But I think the 6th are completely different.....do an experiment dude buy some junkyard 6th gen splash sheilds and test fit it! You maybe able too adjust they to fit and do the same to the new aluminum piece! That new piece is nice but it won't give and flex like the plastic so it could break other things if you run over something next time....but it's nice no doubt!

I finally got around to getting the shield installed. It was super easy :shakeshout:
I got all ready to remove and weigh the stock shield. It was gone. I must have lost it in a snow storm.
The vital statistics
Weight = 2.5lbs
Stock weight = Unknown
Total weight gain = Uknown
Cost of the stock $94 part plus clips 11 of them at $1.63 each equal $17.93
Total of stock = $111.93
If that group buy holds up you get everything for $100. You make the call.
UP ON THE RAMPS

THE CLIPS THAT CAME WITH IT

CLIPS IN PLACE. NOTICE HOW IT IS LAYING THIS IS THE TOP SIDE
FACING THE ENGINE

PUT THEM ON LIKE THIS

THERE IS A SMALL LIP/EDGE ON THE BUMPER, MAKE SURE YOU GET THE SHIELD TUCKED IN BEHIND IT

SEEMS TO BE A VERY SMALL ISSUE, THE SHIELD IS SNUG IN ALL PLACES EXCEPT RIGHT HERE

PERSUADED IT A LITTLE BIT

SOME GENTLE TAPPING TO BEND IT SLIGHTLY AND THE PUSH PINS POPPED RIGHT IN.

Whether you own a 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, or 7th ...the filter isn't in the front so that shield isn't a problem! I would've painted it semi-gloss black though! It's nice,.... now make one for the rear and you'll increase you MPH thru the 1/4 mile!

BUT
If the shield is in the way, then that's a bit of a problem because while you can remove the push pins the same way you would with the stock shield, there isn't any give in this, so maybe you have to remove the whole thing?
I already hit up the maker about that too
BUT
Which is it?

You read my mind,

Correct, This shield in no way has to come off to change the oil, There is really no reason to ever have to take it off, I even put a hole in it so you can drain the coolant.
The side flanges do require a little adjustment when installing, they can easily be bent by hand to line it up level with the subframe, no hammer needed

Your going to want to get on the group buy over here: http://forums.maxima.org/6th-generat...h-shields.html
I don't make or sell, just bought one and posted up my findings
6 Gen shipping would be $45 to Canada. I may be out of these at the moment, Need to count and see how many I have left, I need to make sure I can fill the orders that are already paid our people that have payments on the way to me.
I will get more made but it may take a week or so to get them done.
Thanks!
