Can't figure this one out!

Went to my father's house I get out of the car to take the trash in with the drivers side door unlocked. I come back and the car is locked while it's running. I had to run a block up the hill to get the key from my house. I swear i'm not high this door locked by itself when I got out. I'm not crazy but I know these cars dont lock themselves? i've had it almost 4 years and i've heard that door click by itself a couple of times I thought I was hearing things.

I have done this very thing many times on the 6th Gen Maxima.

Pay attention to how the back of your hand contacts the door lock button as you pull the release handle. When opening the door in a rush it is easy to mash this button back into the lock position as the door opens. The door of course then is locked as soon as it shuts.

I did this once, good to have a second key fob Jiffy lube did this with my Expedition while it was running still in the stall. They had to call a tow company to come unlock the door, had the nerve to ask if my insurance covered it. My escalde has a safety feature to not lock the drivers door while in park and engine running. Even if I push the lock button the door auto unlocks.

most of the newer cars have it where the doors automatically lock when you put it in drive or reach about 10mph. I like how this one won't lock when the key is in the ignition while it's off. I wish the doors wouldn't lock if the vehicle is off and the key is in the vehicle but not the ignition.
