Power Steering Fluid

2005 Maxima SE - all stock setup. I drove over some huge bumps (mountains of snow and ice... thanks Canada apparently we don't plow roads anymore...) and now my car is whining like crazy when I turn the steering wheel.

Before I take it in to be checked, can I use any ol power steering fluid or should I use Nissan OEM brand. Thoughts?

Note, I replaced my p/s high pressure hose with an aftermarket 2 years ago. I should have went OEM when I did that as it lightly whined ever since in general not just when turning. But I got used to it I guess. Lets hope its not the hose again =/

Look at your owners manual ... the fluid type is listed.

Typically, it’s Dexron III, but confirm via the manual.

I’ve heard many times that most aftermarket ps lines give out after a few years. With that said,I use Lucas ps fluid. Works fine for me
