HID's not as bright as I think they should be?

08 SL with new Osram CBI ds2 bulbs.

They don't seem very bright compared to basically any other vehicle with projector headlights. Not a ton of light on the road by any means, they just look dull compared to a newer Toyota or something. My led fog lights seem to put a more light on the road.

Are there any known issues that affect brightness, or any mods to make them brighter? I think Nissan used an E55 projector, any way to install a better aftermarket setup? Do the ballasts effect the intensity of light in any way?

Thanks

Your projectors bowls are probably toast. Pretty common problem with those Valeo or Hella projectors that are used in these cars.

You can swap these in. They're a direct drop in. If memory serves me correct they can be swapped out from the rear without taking apart the headlights.

Right on, I just bought them. Should be here in time to install this weekend. I'll post back with an update then.

Thanks!

The new projectors arrived. The company never sent the confirmation email with the tracking number. Unfortunately the lens on one of them is missing a pretty big chunk along the edge. Glass dust all over in the bag. Also a black mark in the reflective bowl on one. They also arrived with the lenses not clipped into the projector frame. I don't know if it's common for them to be shipped like that but seemed kind of stupid to me. Also couldn't find anything on Google about clipping them into place. Hopefully the retrofit source resolves the issue. They were $120

My experience with this company has not been great so far.
