Just got mine a few days ago in Tempe, AZ. Silver and basic SV. Was very neutral about the cars I was looking at, but when I drove the 2010 Max...I was hooked. I was intending to get just the S, but decided to upgrade to SV. Awesome looking car inside and out with powerful engine. My bro-in-law in CA asked me why I didn't get BMW 3 series so I just told him to drive to a Nissan dealer to check and drive it and he'll know why.

On other note, not sure if this is a appropriate to do, but as a new owner I have a few questions and need your help if you have time. here's my post. http://forums.maxima.org/7th-generat...estion-12.html

I see that I will be here in the forum quite a bit! lol

by the way, did you folks buy lojack, security plus, or maintenance plus? If so, what type and sched? In my Honda, I had the extended warranty and had to use it about 4 times so I think it paid for itself. It has expired now.

This is my first Nissan so I'm not sure whether to get it. I've read that it is pretty reliable as long as you maintain it well. Extend or not to extend...that is the question Your thoughts?

Hey everyone,
New user here and also proud new owner of a 2010 Nissan Maxima SV with Tech Package in Slate Gray with Black Leather. FYI, my previous vehicle was a 2006 Cadillac STS4 with a N* V8 so big change for me. My first Nissan and so far I couldn't be happier with it.

So, got my 2010 Maxima 3.5SV with Premium and Technology Package on March 4th. I went with Winter Frost and Charcoal Leather. I like the blond leather but didn't like the way it looked where it hit the black portion of the dash. My previous car was Winter Frost and Blond leather, but the dash was a darker beige and I thought looked better together.

Not sure what this Cold Pack people refer to is. I am guess that was how you got the cooling seats in 2009.

Love the car. As a techy, I love all the techy features in it.

I had a 2008 Altima Coupe 3.5SE. Excellent car, but I felt it was time for more luxary in my life :-) Big fan of CVT and if you like more pickup, the Sport drive mode is sweet.

Welcome aboard.

As info, the 'COLD PACKAGE' is a small option available for the SV for those not opting for either the SPORT or PREMIUM packages. It consists only of heated outside mirrors, heated steering wheel and heated front seats.

New to the site.
Just traded in my 99 Maxima SE (135K) for a 2010 Maxima SV with Sport Package
Car should be delivered this week. (Needed to do a locate).
How do you guys feel about the paddle shifting? Do you guys use the Music Box flash drive? What do you think?

The car may or may not come with the monitor package. I did not pay for the package, but the dealer is having a hard time locating without.
If the car does come with info package, does that allow me to control ipod from lcd screen? Is it fairly seemless?

If car does not come with info package, can i control ipod through standard radio? Is that seemless?

Thanks...

Picked up my Ocean Gray 2010 Maxima w/ Premium and Nav and spoiler on 3/29!!!
Love it!
Nissan paid off my last 4 payments of my previous lease (07 Accord) and I put nothing down (only 1st month and motor vehicle fees) 3 year lease @ $434/mo! I thought it was a good deal... no?

I have an appointment for window tint tomorrow, and then on 4/16 I am having the 3M Paint Protector Film installed on the front bumper and headlights.

As much as I love this car I am already having an issue. I cannot find any other posts about it and this site wont let me create a post for some reason.
My auto-tilt mirrors stopped working today... I'm heading outside right now to see if maybe its a setting or a fuse.... any one have suggestions or ideas?

LOL went outside and started reading the owners manual... turns out you have to have the mirror switch either to the right or the left for the auto-tilt feature to work. PROBLEM SOLVED!!

I got Security+Plus. IIRC it gives me 5 years total and was about $1150.
I am waiting on a pro-rated refund from my previous 2008 Altima Coupe. Guess that will be about $650 after not quite 2 years and no usage the it.

On another note, ouyt a remote starter in the car. The gent didn't stock the 5501 (without alarm) I really wanted, but he thought he could throw in a 5901 and disable the alarm portion. Didn't work out that way so he is ordering me up the 5501 to swap out the main unit on.
I was a little nervous after all the Viper/Best Buy horror stories in the forums. This guy told me 2 hours, but he got interrupted and it took 3. Compared to Best Buy that is a short time to install :-)

Your right, shoes....don't know what I was thinking I had Sailed away to margaritaville lastnight and sometimes get sloppy with my word choice while I'm there. But thanks for correcting me.

Don't get me wrong though... Love the car. Looks great. Looks just like mine actually! Exspecially with the dark tints. Nice choice in color by the way. It's just that me ( like many others ) are not a fan of those rims. I Think they look like poo. That's just my opinion... I have the 19"s and I still want to change mine out for a different style. I think a lot of the rim upgrades on here make the car look even better and helps them stand out even more. JBoss's rims are a good example IMO. Those rims make his car stand out against the rest and increases the sexy factor tenfold. Good choice JBoss

Leather seat "shedding"

Hey Guys... bought a 2010 Maxima 3.5 with premium package... great car overall...we love it. I am about to take it for first service and from the 2nd week we had the car we noticed what looks like fabric (little strings) coming out of the holes on the driver side seat. Looks like the fabric is jsut coming out of the perforations. thought it would go away but is worse now that we are a couple months into it. Anyone ever seen this?

Also... are there any wind deflector options for the models with double moonroof? Is is way louder on the highway than any car I have ever driven.

Overall the car is a screamer and a ton of fun to drive. I will say I like the lines better than the current BMW and basic Mercedes stock!

I bought mine used. It's a 2009 SV with Sport & Tech package.
I couldn't be happier with her. Car was clean but not clean enough for my standards. I clayed, polished and waxed it. The car now looks like a brand new car and the detailing I did made the car paint feel super silky smooth. I also gave the interior a Lexol treatment. Once the detailing work was complete, I spent most of the following day programming everything I could. Overall I'm glad I made this purchase. The pic is before I cleaned it up.

This is the first time I have seen shedding from the leather seats mentioned. No sign of that from my similar (premium) seats after 16 months.

I personally don't feel this double-panel roof was really intended for use at freeway speeds. There is just too much involved with this thing (the section of the roof that rises is essentially a giant airfoil sticking up above the car). I don't even consider having my double-panel roof open at freeway speeds. In fact, I generally close it if I am going to be exceeding 45 mph. But then I never had regular sunroofs open at freeway speeds in my previous Maximas, either; no deflector can silence a gaping wide open hole at freeway speeds.

I just pick up the SV with Premium and Tech packages in Navy Blue with the Cafe Latte interior. So far, I'm loving it. This is my 3rd max - I had a 93 and a 99 in the past. The car drives and handles great. It' a bit larger that I expected. (no joke please). I'm having a hard time getting it to fit (in my garage). I love all the tech features - especially the cooling driver seat.

I got a question for you guys with no wife and no kids and under 30...

Why do you need such a large family sedan? Just curious...
For me, if I was under 30 with no wife and no kid to haul around, I would definitely be looking at a smaller, faster, 2-door coupe rather than such a large family sedan like the Maxima - perhaps a 370z or a 2-door GTI or even a G37 coupe.

I see a lot of young guys (under 30) here, what drawn you to such a large car like the Maxima? Just curious...

For someone just under 30 with no wife or kids I can answer this. I don't have a Maxima, but what draws me to it is I've always loved Maximas and 4 door sedans in general. I like coupes but I wouldn't buy one. That's just me. I've always loved the concept of a car that was fun to drive but also had room for friends, and the Maxima seems to fit that bill nicely. The only thing I would add to that concept for me would be better fuel economy.

I am under 30 but have a wife. What drew me to purchasing the maxima was the styling, fuel economy, and the space in the car. I had a 350z and loved it but not being able to fit more than one person in my car was a drawback.

After having driven a four door '49 Studebaker for years, I had a two-door '53 Chevy around 55 years ago (single and fancy-free at that time), and hated the hassle of getting friends or anything else in and out of the back seat. I swore I would never again own a two door car.

Except for one short mental breakdown where I bought a '78 Datsun 200SX coupe (great car, but I needed four doors), I have held to that four door mantra, and would do so if I was the last person on earth.

Not only are four door vehicles much more practical; I think they look much better. Of course others naturally feel otherwise.

I'm 27 and single, what drew me to the Maxima were looks and overall package (smooth, options, etc). 2 Door vehicles do have it's appeal but not from a practical standpoint to me. I can foresee a midlife crisis along the way, then I will get me a nice convertible but for now the Maxima is my choice of "toy". FYI, my previous vehicle was a 2006 Cadillac STS4 N* V8.

Totaled my '08 Maxima Sport and replaced it with a '10 Maxima SV w/Sport Package 2 weeks ago. LOVE the new exterior design and faster speed. The new, less leg and headroom in the back seat almost cost Nissan a sale, but the front seat feels surprisingly more spacious.

Music Box is *The Lamest* audio system ever invented. Mainly b/c the non-DVD version holds just barely more than just 1 data CD filled with MP3's -- and also b/c the only way to get music into the system is through commercially purchased full-album audio CD's (NOT via USB or data CD)!

I am disappointed that Nissan doesn't really inform you that adding the Sport Package takes away the 60/40 fold-down rear seats. (Apparently that is the only Maxima package without rear folding seats.) I hope this doesn't bite me during my upcoming years of vehicle ownership.

But driving the vehicle is fast and fun, and you can't beat the lease price anywhere. I've been following the discussion here about whether standard Drive mode or the new Drive Sport mode is faster for automatic shifting. I have yet to see the final determination on that subject. One person suggested that standard Drive actually shifted more like you'd expect in Ds mode. I haven't been able to tell yet.

Interesting, though-- the features video DVD they send with the car states that Ds provides "smoother shifting" -- but the manual says that Ds is "more aggressive" with a distinct gear shift feel~. Can anyone make sense of that?

My Maxima is now 6 weeks old. It is the SV-Premium with optional Tech package, spoiler, mud flaps, etc.

Everything about this car has been flawless and it's a blast to drive. It is now the 3rd Nissan we currently have, including an '01 Altima and '09 Sentra - both of which remain great cars without maintenance issues.

I was originally planning on buying a new Altima 3.5 this time, but the dealer offered a test drive with the Maxima - that changed my mind right away. The 3.5 Altima is a beautiful car, but it's interior just seemed too uninspired. Besides, the base Maxima was nearly the same price.

Once my target was switched to the Maxima it delayed my decision because I then wanted to research competing offerings from BMW, Volvo, Lexus, Infinity, and so on.

In all cases I felt the Maxima was a significantly better looking car. Others that were similar or even better in performance were substantially more expensive. Even though I could afford them, it made no sense to me to spend so much more to gain so little. The Infinity G37 was a great value choice and was in the running until the next point.

The finishing touch was the CVT transmission. I was familiar with the CVT in the Sentra. The fact that it doesn't need to shift just seems like a better solution for a transmission - a costly component that was always the first thing to break in all my old performance and luxury cars. Driving the G37 felt like a step backwards in comparison. It sometimes felt like it couldn't decide which gear to use when downshifting to pass traffic. I also did not care for exterior styling of the Infinity - not exactly ugly, but not very appealing to me.

I've had my sport/monitor for 5 days so far, and couldn't be happier! No rattles, handles great, and the power ahhh. I'm coming from a loaded '07 2.5 altima BTW.
Its still taking me some time to get used to the huge bulging hood so I keep extra far away from everything hah.

Neither the Sport NOR the Premium have the fold-down rear seats. This is because the framework across the cabin just behind the rear seats on the Sport AND Premium packages is a much stronger, more rigid piece that greatly strengthens the body, reducing torsional twisting and resulting in a better road-handling car.

At least three people here have made offical track-timed runs under various tranny settings, and IIRC, all achieved their best times in plain old 'D'. The 'Ds' is more for fun.

As to the DVD, it should say that Ds provides smoother shifting than a Manual, or smoother shifting than most cars with Automatic trannies. But the Owners Manual is trying to say that the Ds gives an aggressive 'feel' to the takeoff, as well as giving the feeling we are driving an Automatic tranny car. Rather than being concerned about the suggested effects, I feel each driver needs to try these options for themselves, and decide what they like about each.

I know this thread is old but im new here and i wanted to give some input. I personally love my maxima, I picked it up about 3 weeks ago and it has been love at first sight. I upgraded from a 2010 Accord EX-L, and the first thing that I noticed is that the Maxima has ALOT more power. The car handles like a charm, comparable to the accord, which is also FWD. I installed a new intake yesterday (K&N) and the sound of the car is much better than my accord even with a magnaflow exhaust system. And for all those that are dissing on the CVT, I can garuantee that it is so much better than any other transmission out there, once you really get the feel of it. It can shift "gears" much faster than any human could ever possibly dream to, and it is also more fuel efficient. All in all, the 7th gen Maxima is a great car, and I plan on keeping this one a long long time.

Thanks! I like to help, but there is so much with cars that I know nothing about. All this modern communication technology is Greek to me. I still have my K&E (Keuffel & Esser) 1927 slide rule used by my father in college between 1927 and 1933, and used by me in college between 1952 and 1958.

For me, Ipod is a sea creature from the Cretaceous Period (Later Mesozoic), Blackberry is a delicious pie, and bluetooth is a cosmetic problem for my dentist.

Please thank me by giving your Maxima all the TLC you can! Anyone who treats their Maxima well is my friend.

Please thank me by giving your Maxima all the TLC you can! Anyone who treats their Maxima well is my friend.

2010 maxima owner.. PISSED THE F**K OFF!!

i went into dealer (youngblood nissan) in springfield missouri with my wife 2 weeks ago with my mind/check book ready to get the 40th anniv. z.
when it came down to final negotiations, she looked at me and said "baby, do we really need a sports car? we need something with back seats" note to self.. should've left the wife at home..
fyi, we are newlyweds.

so, we ended up driving off the lot with a 2010 maxima s, super black w/ 20s...

everything was great! i liked the way it drove, cant even feel the gears shifting, when you need the power you def get that...

brought it home and parked in the garage. i am a smoker and my wife hates it so i was smoking in the garage looking at this vehicle that i paid 33k for (not including tax/title) and noticed small silver, yellow, red specks all over the vehicle (paint & windows).... took it back to the dealer and was told that those specks were from the window paint displaying the "2500 rebate or 60 mo 0%".. shouldn't they take care of that sh*t BEFORE they hand you the keys? i guess that's my bad i didn't notice but come on!

the next morning the tire pressure light came on.. so i took it back to the dealer and told them of said problems and was told to come back at said time... car was parked in front the lot. got the keys and proceeded to my vehicle.

VERY DISAPPOINTED.. the fools in the detail dept didn't even wash the damn car before "detailing"... how the hell are you going to see flaws if the car isn't clean to begin with? WTF? hey, atleast the the tire pressure light came off.. now the passenger side airbag light is coming on..

so i am supposed to take it back to the dealer in the morning to get a "full detail" and inform them of the airbag light...

ughhhh... i have better things to do on my days off!!!!

anybody else have similar probs? i am livid!!!
