Hello, new to the forums. I just picked up my 2010 Maxima SV sport with Tech, Monitor, Sport , Splash Guards, and Floor Mats last week. Super Black/Charcoal. Paid 33,100(before tax) sign and drive 0$ down at 0%financing. Everything else rolled in payments. I feel I got myself a pretty solid deal. What do you guys think?
Thanks

Hi All:

New to the forum and currently an '07 Altime SE leaser looking to upgrade to a Maxima before the year is over (along with my Altima lease).

I live in Union County here in NJ. Couple of questions:
1- Dealerships - any respectable ones you know of in this area where I could get a good lease?

2 - I WANT my Maxima with Blue exterior and latte interior and can't find it in any dealerships - should I forgo the color and get it in any other color or just wait for the 2011s? Besides - I don't see too many of the blue either!

3 - Not sure if I want the SV Sport or the SV Premium - can those with either comment on the handling and the ride comfort? Coming from an Altima SE and planning on a family - I am wondering how the sport-tuned suspension is compared to the "softer" base SV suspensions - not wanting to get too stiff of a ride should there be an infant on board.

4 - 2010 vs 2011 - Is it worth waiting for the 2011s since I'm not digging the new headlights honestly. Would a car sitting in the lot for over a year now be a worry to me?

5 - 2010 Maxima SV with Premium - what is a good lease or purchase price for it at this time of the year with 2011s just around the corner.

6 - Finally - dealership wise - I am in contact with a dealership who is telling me I could "reserve" the 2011 that I want stating they are slowly getting them in. Should I worry about getting screwed on "reserving" my Max?

Thanks for any help and it's weird, but joyous, to be moving from the Altima forums to the Maxima forums.

Personally, Im only 18 years old, and I wanted my car to be very sporty since Im so young so I went with a sport Maxima, the rides is harsh in the beginning but the ssprings settle after you start putting miles on the car. If you wanna go ahead and give Pine Belt Nissan a ring tehy are a grat dealership. Ask for Tommy G, tell him the young kid who had to call his mom before he bought his Maxima sent you, lol. He will know who I am. They gave me a price no other dealer would touch. It aint worth the wait for a 2011, there are no changes that make it much different from a 2010, plus the markup will be crazy as hell.

Hi all,

New to the site but really wish I had found it sooner. Amazing how much good information there is here and I REALLY wish I had found this thread in particular before I went shopping this weekend. Just traded in my 98 Maxima for a black on black 2010 SV with the cold package, splash gaurds, floor and trunk mats, spoiler, fog lights and bose 6 disc. Settled on 30,500 before tax, title, tag and trade with 0% for 60 instead of extra incentives after 2 days of negotiations and back and forths with 2 dealers in the Boston area. Ended up with 4k on my trade which I thought was great considering the condition of the car. I've seen some pretty incredible deals on here going back through the posts and I thought I got a pretty good one but now I'm not so sure. I'm almost afraid to ask, but what do you all think?

2010 Crimson Black SV with Sport and Tech package. otd was 36k and change, 1.9% for 72mths. i consider it a good deal cause not only did they come down on the maxima, but they gave me payoff amount on my trade, and i KNOW i was upside down at least 3k.

Talking SWEET!

Took advantage of the Labor day and final 2010 sales. We picked ours up yesterday: 36K+taxes on a Radiant Silver SV Premium with Technology and spoiler and mud flaps with 70miles on it - turned out we picked up the car we test drove 2 days earlier.. Leasing it for $450/month but will most likely buy it out well before the 39 month lease is up.

This car is such an upgrade from a stock '07 Altima SE and I sure don't miss the Sports Tuned suspension as I was opting for a more comfortable ride.

2010 Frost White (Latte interior) SV with Premium and Tech package. It was the dealer Demo. After incentives and trade in of my Black 99 Max SEL, It was $32,500. Put $3K down, financing for $29,500. It's a REALLY nice Ride. As someone was saying earlier in this thread... My max was modded and had a stiff suspension. Was too much on my wifee for lifee's back on long trips so I gunned for the Premium Pkg with the gentler ride.

We test drove the Sport Pkg but my wife liked the Premium ride better. I LOVE this car!!!

I think it's more a question of whether certain prices quoted are OTD or before tax. Tax is $2K to $3K.

Let's also keep in mind that getting a deal isn't just a matter of strolling into the dealership. I spent a full weekend near the end of the month working with the sales managers of six dealerships by phone and email. Some wouldn't deal, some were belligerent. I ultimately found the car I wanted at the right price, but it probably cost more than a few gray hairs.

Well it's been a while since I've been a Max owner. Just bought a 2010 S for $24,500 after rebates and before taxes and fees.

I had planned to wait for a 2011 but that price was just sick .

Doing my research but have a question

I've been looking at lots of brands lately and saw a new Maxima roll by yesterday. It certainly got my attention.

Using a combination of truecar.com and edmunds.com I have found several local dealers with 2010 Premium Package w/spoiler, splash guards, carpet floor and trunk mats that are in the dealer inventory. Truecar.com lists invoice and also actual dealer cost (that's below invoice) for$31,434 after the $2250 rebate.

I will take my first in person look at the dealerships today but I would like to ask a question before I go. I dont see the incentives that were available at time of purchase in the previous posts so I'm wondering how long the $2250 rebate has been around.

I also wanted to pass along that I have financed my last 3 cars with penfed.org with the last 2 being @ 2.9% for 60mo. After I setup my account (online) I have been approved everytime in less than 5 minutes. Its mainly for military members but I'm not military. They just ask you setup free account with them to become a member (by depositing $5) and they gave me all the member benefits. I have used them for about 6 years and they have awesome customer service so I would highly recommend them.
BTW I am not affiliated with them at all I just wanted to give back to the forum in a small way by passing along the info.

Can you guys chime in on the prices paid at the time or how long the $2250 rebates have been in place?

Thank you!!

Danny (hopeful future Maxima owner )

The rebates are always changing. When I got mine the rebates were 2k, I think they're like 1,750 or 1,500 now. You can always check Nissan usa because thats were all rebates are listed.

Hi everyone,

Just signed up to the forum, looks like a lot of really good info. I'm in the Chicago area and I'm wondering what people are paying for the 2010 with premium and tech packages? I'm looking for a good deal on a lease, either 36/12 or 36/15. Anyone know any good dealers to go to for this?

Thanks for the great info!

My Deal

Went to OOR Nissan in Dallas today. This is the deal they offered.
2010 Sport, floor mats/trunk, splash guards, sports tech package $39,050 sticker + dealer adds for tint and locks. They offered me $31,330 which includes a $2250 rebate + $1000 Nissan financing rebate. The car has 1400 miles and has sat on their lot for 157 days since they did a dealer trade for it.

Retail = 39,050
Their offer 31,330

Something they told me today is that I can take the $1000 dealer financing and then refinance 4 months later with my bank later and enjoy the 2.9% apr that my bank offers. I brought a blank financing contract home tonight to review for early payoff penalties.

The only bummer on the deal is the car is ocean blue color that while looks good by day is pretty feminine looking under lighting at night. The same dealer has a black one with 6,000 miles and a slate one as well (unsure of the miles on that one). I really would like to have the black one and think they will give me another $1000 off but I cant help but think its a used car.

I found a dealer 1 hour away that shows to have the same one in black so I'm going to see if they will match the deal. I'll let you know how it works out

Thoughts?

Seriously? My preferred color was blue then Ocean Gray but ended up with my 3rd option of Silver. I saw the Ocean Gray in person and loved it. Feminine? I don't think you can make our cars look feminine with any of the color options available. No Sir.

Used

Since I only purchase used vehicles (I'll let someone else take the depreciation hit), I picked up my 2010 Maxima S for $22,800. It still is under the warranty and is through the break-in period.

New Maxima Owner

Wow it was a busy day! I got my trade back from the body shop, had it appraised, returned my rental and also returned the Maxima from the "take it home for the evening" dealer I posted about earlier today.

Went to Grubbs Nissan in Bedford Texas and bought a 2010 Maxima super black-70miles w/premium package, rear spoiler, climate controlled drivers seat, splash guards & floor mats. The care also had dealer installed wheel locks, Lifetime Nitrogen fill , tint and pin stripes)

MSRP - $38,100
Dealer installed options - $895
Total - $38,995

Rebates
Nissan rebate - $2250
Nissan financing rebate - $1000
Total - $3,250

Negotiated price after rebates - $30,890

Trade In
2009 Honda Civic
CarMax offer $12,000
Nissan offer $12,300
Nissan value (offer + state tax offset) $13,050

I'll get a free fill up and first oil change from the dealer and will refinance in the future with penfed.org to get my 2.9% APR.

The dealer was GREAT to work with and I highly recommend them. They were not happy to make this deal but happy to get the car out of inventory. I still prefer the ride of the sport and miss the graphics, functionality and sound quality of the navigation head unit but I could not live without the super black, premium options and freshness of this particular unit (the black paint has no signs wash/dry clear coat scratches)!

I'm certainly interested in finding some sport package wheels upgrading the handling and the sound. I'll be scouring the forums in the next few days for this stuff but if your reading this and would like to give me some hints please feel free to PM me.

Thanks for everyone's help so far and I'm very happy to be a 7th-gen Maxima & maxima.org noob!!

You could get an S but, the best option for you which is very reasonable in price is the SV. I would recomend the cold package and monitor package, they offer lots of goodies for a great price.

Hopefully someone sees this tonite and can respond...

I currently have a 2011 Metallic slate premium + tech + spoiler sitting in my garage, borrowed from the dealer for tonite. I'm getting rid of my 2005 Acura TL with 80k, but wanted to keep the cash and not put it towards the lease of the maxima. I would've looked at 2010s, but all this dealership had were 2011s. Either way, after a lot of dealing, I got them down from 581 a month to 469 per month, with one payment down plus first months payment due at leasing. I have seen anyone mention anything about 2011s yet, but I think I'm getting a pretty good deal. From what i can tell, the dealership is losing a good amount of money on this one. What do you guys think of the deal, the car, and the color? Anyone have any experience with these 2011s?

Some tips I used

I hope this can give you some additional information and help others.

#1 Time is on your side so if your looking for the best deal don't be afraid to return that car they put you in or walk away. Just be firm with them when you go in and TELL them you need to get your old car appraised or return your rental car or whatever. They will try to tackle you because I'll bet 90% of someone who leaves never returns. Just stand your ground.

#2 Dont get sucked into casual conversation. Every question they asked you is an attempt for them to gain leverage. Ask yourself are you there to make a friend (and pay that new friend $1-$5k dollars for the day) or buy a car at the lowest price and have that money on the back end when you need to get out of that car and into something else.

Leasing
I have never leased before but will advise you to use truecar.com to find out the actual dealer cost which is below invoice. They will not be happy to eat into their hold-back and not sure if they would do that on a 2011 but it doesn't hurt to try. From what I understand when leasing you need to negotiate the price just as if you were buying the car. Dont get sucked into the payment amount. Stick with the actual amount you will pay over the entire term of the contract.

Dealer Add's
Also they will have their actual price paid for dealer add-on's loaded into their system. If they are honest they will show you this. In my case I refused to pay anything for them on my last 2 cars and the dealer agreed. They will not loose a deal on things they added to the car because 95% of all customers will pay for them and they are marked up about 400%!

Your Credit Rating
If your credit is over 699 that is an asset and should be used to your advantage. The dealer indicated that someone with good credit allows for support of others with not as good credit. Think of it as pool that Nissan financing put people in together and that average presents an acceptable risk for the company. I never thought of this before but it took another $1000 off the price of the purchase

Dealer Inventory access
In general you can use edmunds.com to see a high level of how many cars a dealer has in inventory. You see this "lookup" option after you configure what specific model with options you are looking for. This is great for brands like Lexus that hide what in inventory. I'm guessing its to keep you away from ddealer shopping. THis is no worry for Nissan as they have a very customer friendly inventory lookup feature. I used it extensively to find dealers up to 350 miles away and ultimately found the car i purchased that way. Use this to your advantage but be sure to call a dealer before you go to verify (by the VIN) that the car is still in stock and how many miles are on it. IN my case some dealers had 25 2010 Maxima's in stock where others had 2.

Your trade-in
If you do all of the above correct this is where they will make money in the deal. Use NADA.com to find the trade-in value of your car and then get an appraisal at a CARMAX. Just know that CARMAX is going to low-ball you big time because they have nothing to loose (because the quote will not be competitive). Add at least 4% to this price and keep it as your minimum. When they try to tell you its worth less tell them you are considering putting in on Cars.com for $3k less than what everyone else is asking. The dealer is going to make $3k-$4k on my trade but will likely have to sit on it for a while, payoff my loan, etc... I could have sold my online but it would have been a nightmare and only netted me an additional 10% (or $1300 after loosing the trade-in tax advantage)

I know this is probably more than what you wanted but thought I would try to help some others as well.

Good Luck!

Kurt2010Max-Trust me, the dalership will never ever lose money on a car, especially a 2011, which just hit showroom floors. Honestly don't ever let them fool you like that. No dealer is gonna lose money on a new model year car. They wont' even lose money on cars from the last model year, they will only make a little profit. You have to look at it like this, you got them down from $581 to $469, That first price was obviusly wayyyy more than wht you should pay. You should negotiate further. I say try to get to like $420 or $410 a month, if they dont budge, go to another dealer and say, this dealer gave me this price, can you beat it, don't tell them how much you wanna pay($400 a month ideally). If they give you a price that is not much less than $469, just say, Im not gonna waste my time or yours and just leave. They will most likely call you back to re-negotiate. An Infiniti g37 is a car you spend $500 a month on, for this car I would spend no more than 420 a month or maybe just because it's a 2011 $430.

If you check out its history report, it shows a Salvage title ... and with "wet carpet", that equals flood damage. Car got SOAKED.

Don't buy it!

Agreed, do you really think that the seller would tell you that he got drunk or something, and ran the car into a lake? A wet carpet is a very mischevious way to put it.
