How much did you pay? *New car shopper*
Just traded my 18 month old '11 Max w/Premium/Tech and 33.5K miles plus $7989 for a new '12 with all the same plus mats and splash guards (MSRP of $41,430). Wasn't looking for this but my salesman approached me when I brought my '11 in for an oil change. Happened fast...like in a few hours.
Brand spanking new, with that great new car smell, 2012 S with limited edition package, mats, trunk organizer (which I kinda like) for 27,500.
Silver with the dark wheels and body colored spoiler.
BTW, having had leather and cloth, I know leather is good for kids and their ice cream cones and cokes and maxima S model soft cloth is for me cause the kids are grown and gone!

Hi folks, I just traded in my 03 with almost 107k miles on it to CarMax. So im in the market for a Max, but I dont want to have a $400 note (max is $350ish) What do you guys think of trying CarMax? I saw this http://www.carmax.com/enus/view-car/...9-1d47b95ddaf3
I need a car like yesterday and I will be getting something in the next few days, but I dont have a lot of time to really find a good deal. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!
Edit. I already ran my credit thru with Carmax, so basically I just have to sign the papers on whatever I decide on. Or do you guys/gals think I should I try a dealership? And how do you guys get them to drop the prices so low? I want to be prepared and not get screwed.

I see some people are getting a $2000 visa debit card through edmunds. Is this offer still availble, and if so , could someone give me a link to it? I am in the market for a new 7th gen, and plan on watching for deals around Christmas time, and next year for the 2012 model.

Paid $16.5 for 2011 S model with 38,999 miles. I know everyone is going to hate on me for buying from Hertz, but to each his own. Car is in excellent shape and verified by Nissan pre-purchase check to be in certified condition.
What city/state? I was looking at enterprise rental car sales for a 2009+ SV but the asking prices were crazy high.
I live in CT. At the end of July '12 i bought a 2010 3.5 sv premium, slate grey, 33k mi, $29,044 out the door.
i've heard people describe seeing subtle differences between each different model year. just for S&G, my car has the following:
no spoiler
red stitching
no tech package
18" wheels
pass-through (not folding rear seat)
zenon headlamps

Reading all these kind of concerns me. I just bought a 2009 Maxima with the premium package...and I'm still a little confused on the sports/technology packages. I seem to have acquired a little of both, if that's possible. It only had one owner, about 34,500 miles - and it honestly looks brand new. The last owner took extremely good care of it.
With taxes and everything else, mine was about $28,500 (sticker was $23,999). I was very happy with the whole situation (well, except the idea of a gazillion car payments!) until I started reading this thread. I had been looking at cars/SUVs for about a month prior to purchasing. I had all but decided on a Kia Sportage (2011, $20k before taxes, etc) or an Acura MVX (2004, $17k before everything they heap on at the end). I obviously wasn't totally sold on either (although both seemed to be in excellent shape) - and I really kept wanting to look at Maximas. I had a '92 many years ago and can still say it was the best car I've ever owned. So we end up at this dealership to look at Altimas, and I see this Maxima...fall in love, test drive it and become an obsessed stalker, didn't even touch the Altima (even though it was a 2011, 24,000 miles, & was something like $12,500) and couldn't wait to get it out of there. I did not think I would be leaving with a car that day...but thought my mom and I did a pretty decent job of negotiating about $700 off the price. (Everywhere seems to be "the price you see is the price you pay - we don't negotiate, but do reduce the cars about $500 every 30, 45, & 60 days." We couldn't get anything off the window price at any of the other 4 dealerships we visited.)
I've swooned over my Maxima since the day I got it. My 16 year old son just got his permit last week and it absolutely KILLS me to let him drive. (Seriously - he couldn't have done that when I was stuck driving the crummy 1998 Ford Taurus??) He rolled into a curb today and I threw up in my mouth a little.
I know price varies in different regions...but did I really goof? I'm thrilled with the car & an enjoying it to the point of wanting to become proficient in "car speak"...but after seeing some of the prices here, I'm afraid...what do you think?

So all in all some ppl depending where they are located might get better pricing then others for the same car w/ same options.

It's all based on status symbol... meaning depending on state, city, dealer and how common the car is. For example where I live the TL's are very common so the only true acura dealer here tends to NEVER cut prices on them... but I can go the next state over and get a new TL damn near $8k off because they never sell or if they do its at a slow pace.

For future reference, is it better to decide on the car and then search everywhere for it? Or is it preferable to hit local dealers and look at everything in your price range?
Thank you for your input, esco115. I appreciate it. My dad used to do all the car research/buying in our family - he was a total nutcase gearhead. If it had wheels he had driven it...most likely raced it. Since he passed the task has fallen to each family member. Yikes!

2010 Maxima SV Sport
I just picked up this jewel on Thursday 10/04/12. I paid $28,303 out the door including TTT. It has 19k on the speedo and I must say...I'm in love. This is my first Nissan(former Honda guy) and I am hooked. Blue is my favorite color, so I opted for the Navy B version like the one in this link.

September '12- I purchased my '09 maxima w/ sport package for 21k, 50k miles tho. Reaaaally nice car. I am in central AR & from what I found, all the Maximas '09+ in my area, were going for 23k-32k with either sport or premium. Some of the dealers I researched were North Point Nissan, Crain Team, & Superior Nissan(Conway, ar where I got mine). Great prices and were easy to negotiate with.
