real simple gentlemen...go to a dealer who has many maxima's to buy; try to avoid those small dealers that dont carry much in stock. once you find a place that has many cars to sell.....check with him to see what car he has to sell you and if you like it....ask for the dealer invoice; go $1,000 below and stand firm on your price; if you can get it.....buy it!!!

i purchased a 2008 toyota highlander limited 4wd with all options minus the nav and dvd entertainment system for $34,500. the invoice price was $35,600; then I got the rebate for $2,000. Final cost w/o taxes was $32,500..... this was a deal... i b/s the guy and said i would finance with toyota as they will never sell you a car this less as they want to get you back on the finance and extra warranty package.... unfortunately i had to hear there b/s for two hours about finance and all that crap...i took the finance at 6% per year to leave because they need to inflate there numbers to make the sale look great on there books; the next month I wrote a check for $30K to pay off the car.....make sure there are no clauses of penalty to pay off the loan!

if you cannot pay off the loan like i did, then make sure to deal with the finance department, b/c they will get you back on the savings...
if you can pay it off, do what i did, low ball them and tell them you will finance with them.

* just remember if you ask for the dealer invoice; they will rebuttle for a deposit or a credit card???
i put $1K on the table for them!!!! dont be afraid, they get very cocky as they are train to think they are the ****.

good luck

Hey Guys, im new to this site. I leased a 2009 Max Silver on black with sport and tech package. I love the car! My lease on my Acura TSX ended and i wanted a bigger car, and the TL is way to Fugly and expensive. The TSX was a really good car i loved the way it drove and the handling was nice and neutral. I love all of the features the max has. I had a 2002 MAX SE before the Acura, but this MAX is miles ahead of that car.

Welcome! But be careful in disparaging the '02 Maxima. Although both you and I loved our 5th gens, we both know this '09 is miles ahead of those great old cars. However, there are those lurking on the ORG who are still under the illusion the 5th gens are better vehicles than anything since, so we tread lightly when mentioning those 5th gens.

But thanks to those doubters (and the auto depression), Maxima sales have been slow, considering this is a complete redesign, so very good deals can be had.

I wasn't disrespecting the 5th gen. I loved the 2k2. I had a black on black with every option including nav. It drove great, but the headlights were stolen 3 times! But i had some great memories especially in the back seat , lots of room lol.

Question for you guys- My father in law informed me that tinting the windows in the winter may not be a good idea because of the cold. Should i wait until it gets a little warmer, i live in the Northeat or shoudl i just go for it?

What did you lease the car for? I am looking into getting a 2009 Maxima, black on black, with tech and sports packages. I am upside down on my 2005 TSX, but I want to get into the Maxima.

I've read through this whole thread and noticed that you are just south of Atlanta. I am in Douglasville. I tried to contact the Union City Nissan by leaving a message for Lisa but no one has called me back yet. I do have a few other places I am in contact with at the moment (Team Nissan in Marietta, Nissan in Lithia Springs, Nissan in Gwinett). Just trying to get the best deal out there.

Well I be damned. I'm back in Maxima land. LOL. Made a deal today on a 09 Maxima Sport + Tech package, w/Splash guards. MSRP was $38,285 and I walked away for $33,900 without tax, title, license, etc. The salesrep stated he would throw in the mats for free and oil changes free for 1 year.

I could not walk away from a deal like that. I'm hoping they locate my White on Black car by next week. I really hate this waiting game.

Congrats on your deal.

What do you mean by white on black? Do you mean the charcoal interior?

Take things in your own hands in regards to location. The Nissan site allows you to search inventory. If you locate the desired car buy your dealer says it does not exists, it means he can't get it. When I purchased my car, I knew that there were four cars within 50 miles.

Sorry, Winter Frost with Black leather. I actually did use that tool on Nissan's website to locate the car that I wanted. One of the dealers that had the exact configuration wanted $500 over invoice and I wasn't having that so I walked.

My sales rep told me I can come with him to pickup the car from the other dealer when they locate it and if it's more than 40 miles away, they'll have it delivered on a flatbed.

Becanes-i am paying 513 a month for 39 months and i gave a grand out of pocket. Plus i had 5 months left on my tsx lease at 384, so the dealer ate those payments. I assuming this is a good deal. Alot of other dealers were quoting 575 a month with the same criteria.

I should have negotiated for the oil change deal...thats good couple hundred bucks with the 90 dollar ESTER oil change I got last time...

That lease sounds good. I'm buying it for a little more per month, with a little more down, and a few more months on the loan. I think we're all getting pretty good deals. The Sport+Tech for 33,900 sounds good. I got 32k for Sport without Tech a few months ago and that was a pretty darn good deal. I don't want the Nav but I would have liked the color screen like in the premium package if I could go back and do it again. The thing is I'm not even sure how long I'll have the car...I keep wavering between trying something else in the spring.

Similar to my situation. I searched the inventories of the nearest 23 Nissan dealerships and found several cars exactly like I wanted (White/Latte, Premium, Tech). My saleslady called and found the first five had had spoilers added by the dealers, but the dealers had not updated the Nissan site to reflect the spoilers. Really bad business practice.

She found that one of the cars I had found had a contract on it, and two others were at dealers who would not deal, so I spent many hours searching all dealerships in GA, AL, SC, eastern and middle TN, and western and central NC. Found three, none within a hundred miles. At that point, my saleslady noticed the car that was under contract earlier was still in that dealer's inventory. She called, found the loan was turned down, and had the car 'flatbedded' to her dealership immediately. It is now in my garage, and I love it.

Hey Light, congrats on your new Max. I really can't wait to get mine. It really is a nice car inside and out. I was one of the naysayers on this board in regards to the CVT, but after having a few test drives I have to admit that I came away very impressed. You were one of the posters here that was the voice of reason and convinced me to give the car a try and I thank you for that.

When you get a chance, I would love to read a more detailed review from you (when you get more time behind the wheel obviously). What you like and don't like. How it compares to your previous 04, comfort, fuel economy, roominess, etc.

Thanks for asking. I am almost through reading the 404 page Owner's Manual, then have a 234 page Navi manual to get through (I've never used a Navi system before). The weather has been brutal considering I am south of Atlanta. The temp is in the teens again as I write this, and since I bought this car Jan 8, we have had three days with wind gusts around 35 mph, three drizzly days, and several gloomy overcast days. As a result, my wife and I together have put less than 150 miles on the car in the 13 days we have had it.

I do hope to take a few trips in this beauty before I say too much about the strong and weak points. I already have several of each in mind. I am glad you found this new CVT to be a very nice tranny. That CVT is one of the really strong points for me. More later.

Gulp! OK, I think I done good, but it's hard to tell with car dealers.

mine is a Maxima SV with premium package, splash guards and floor mats. MSRP was shown at $37355 and invoice was $34,052. I paid $32,868 and they waived their normal $199 "processing fee".

Before I talked to the Nissan dealer, I took my trade to CarMax and they offered to buy my old car for $8500. The Nissan dealer matched that price, so I saved sales tax of 7% on that $8500. My bank quoted me 5.49% financing and the dealer matched that, but they did get me for an extra $50 "loan origination fee".

My dealer had to get the car from another dealer (in town) so it took an extra day for delivery, but it was waiting washed, detailed, with a full tank of gas. Oh, and it took me about 3 days to realize that the splash guards were not on the car, so they have ordered those and will instal them next week.

So, what do you think? Did I do OK? BTW, at this point, I like the car enough that I would be happy even if it wasn't a great deal.

That sounds like a pretty good deal to me. I am looking to pick mine up at the end of March and am looking for everything you have except for the floor mats and with the tech package. If i can pay anything near what you paid (obviously a little more cause of the tech package) than I will be very happy. I'm hoping I can get the price down to no more than $35,000 for the SV premium, tech, and splash guards. Hopefully by the end of March Nissan will have some sort of cashback rebate for me to use

Sounds like you made a great deal. I see you are south of Indy. I got mine at Tom Wood on the northside. They were very easy to deal with.

I love this car!

BlueMax- I agree with everyone else. You done good! It sounds like you got the Maxima you wanted at a good price. You also gave the dealership a trade (which they matched price on) and a loan which helps them cover their costs.

Thanks for sharing your experience. Did you have to work to get that price? It sounds like it took a few weeks to get the deal negotiated (and they still didn't put on the splash guards). Let's hope they give you good service after the deal!

Enjoy your new Maxima! It sounds like you're enjoying the design, performance and features enough that that is the most important part of the deal...

I got over 3K off MSRP in Sept on an SV + Sport....without haggling. Some dealers are more ready to sell than others...some will hold out for a few hundred extra dollars and some wanna move a car. It's all about finding a solid dealer.

Not bad. Early in January, I purchased the same configured car except mine had the truck organizer + Winter Mats + one extra key. My price was $32.5k + tags + tax.

Thanks, and good luck finding a deal in March. Being later in the model year should help you too.

Mick7
Hi neighbor! I got mine at Andy Mohr because they were also easy to work with and close to where my wife works. I did most via email and phone after an Edmunds “get dealer quote”. The guy from Tom Wood was also good, but the logistics just worked better buying from Mohr.
I love this car too. I just wish we didn’t have a foot of snow so I could drive it more. Had to drive the 4X4 today. OK, maybe I could have driven the Maxima, but it would have gotten all dirty and cold and stuff. Yeah, I know… the first step to recovery is to admit I have a problem.

Mls277
It is one smoooove ride! I think most dealers are willing to negotiate right now. It’s just very hard to know what is a good price. When they accept my offer, I always think I should have started lower.

dkmura
It really only took 5 days from first contact to close, and wasn’t too difficult. I did a lot of research on the web beforehand, and found a price from an out of state dealer. I added a little for the convenience of buying local, and made an offer. He called back about 30 minutes later with the OK.
Like you said, they made a few bucks with the trade and financing, and somehow I think they made money on the deal, even at $1200 below “invoice”. As for service, once I noticed the missing splash guards, he ordered them and promised to come get the car, put them on, and return the car to the wife’s office. That looks promising so far.

CT Maxima
I saw a few days ago that you and I have almost the same car, but yours is my “evil twin” (dark interior vs. light). The thing I like about your charcoal is that the upper dash and trim matches, but we liked the brighter interior. Guess that’s why they make them either way, huh?

OK, I have a question for an Admin or any long time members: Should I reply to multiple responses individually or like this? I don’t want folks to think I’m trying to pad my post count, but it might be easier to see a reply in individual posts. Since this looks like I’m writing a book, maybe I should just shut up and quit typing.

BlueMax - I'm not a mod, and haven't yet completed my sixth year here, but I would suspect that, as long as you are talking about the '09 Maxima, are making reasonably interesting or valid statements or asking rational questions and staying anywhere close to topic, the mods probably are amenable with either way you choose to respond to multiple posts. But if they do have a preference, we will soon know.

Noi to take this thread too far OT, but I like my Nissans WAY too much to lease them. Unless you have a legitimate way to write-off the leasing expense, buying is the better deal. No mileage limitations or other restrictions, And since I own the car, I can personalize or mod it without having to worry abouy taking anything off when the lease expires. IMHO, if you can purchase responsibly, you have the potential to negotiate a better price- which is what this thread is about in the first place!

Just bought a new 09 Maxima

I just bought my 09 Maxima last month. Paid for $33,700 plus tax + title. I think I got a good deal on it since I got $4000 of the MSRP. My car is fully loaded with Sport package & technology (19 in rims). Only had 900 miles so far and everything is working perfectly. Will let you guys know more once I take some trips to Houston. Btw, if anyone would like to know, I got it from Leblance Nissan dealer in Gonzales, Louisiana. Had to drive 30 mins from Baton Rouge since the dealer in town offered the same one with more miles and less options for $500 more than the one I bought.

ok so my lease on my 06 altima is due this july and i been loking foward to switching to the max since the max released. Now my question is which dealers in the NY area are offering the best deals. im located in queens btw. my altima was leased from koeppel nissan and my dad has bought numerous cars from them, in fact my dad has a frontier and my brother an 08 altima from them. my dad is very close to owners son and has been a customer since the 80s but for some reason everytime i go to check deals and possible trades he hits me with the "oh its still a new car, we not offering major discounts on it". now after reading everyone's steals here im wondering whats out there for me. i know i can return my lease up to 4 months early which would be around april with no fees, also last july i was quoted for 599 lease on a sv sport and no lease termination fee(mind u i had 12 months left on the lease, but i was not having that $600 payment so i opt to wait. So to my Queens buyers, what dealers in queens are negotiating?

Joelito- if you've read this thread at all, you know that all Nissan dealers (Queens or nationwide) are negotiating to save their businesses. So there are deals out there. But if you can wait until closer to the time your lease expires, you'll probably see even better deals! Why? The '09s will be close to a year from their introduction and no longer such a new model. Manufacturer incentives will probably kick in at that time as well; offering better lease deals would be no surprise.

Pulled the trigger today for a fully loaded 09 Max with Premium + Tech option. The MSRP is $39,205 and I paid $34,000. Picking up the new ride tomorrow afternoon.

I really can't understand why Nissan isn't having any President's Day sales on this car? The new TL is already being discounted. At least offer 2.9% APR.

Here's a link to a recent article about Nissan's marketing plans:

http://www.autoweek.com/article/2009...NEWS/902129997

If accurate, it appears Nissan is willing to stand pat on marketing offers for the time being. Don't expect to see any significant discounting or factory-to-consumer offers until the end of next month.

On the other hand, Nissan dealers across the country are discounting cars in an effort to move inventory.

Just to clarify: Nissan's "Look closer" sales campaign features discounts for the Altima and Sentra, including $2250 off or 0.9% financing for the latter! This could portend future incentives for Maxima, but nothing earlier than late spring/early summer.

What is 'it' that should be bought at under 30K?

The base '09 Maxima starts just under $30K MSRP, and can be found for under $25K (but not under $24K unless there are some miles on the odo, etc), while the SV loaded with Premium, Tech, etc, lists for just under $40K MSRP, and can be found for under $35K (but not appreciably under $34K unless there are miles on the odo, etc).

Very few Nissan dealers are in the panic state many American make dealers (and some foreign make dealers) are. It took me months of wrangling to get my $39,700 '09 down to $34,500.

Many of the 'great deal' posts we see here are either on demos, on cars with miles on the odo, or traded in a vehicle toward the new '09. None of those quotes reflect the true value paid for the new car.

Despite rumors to the contrary, the new generation '09 Maxima is not being 'given' away.

I agree lightonthehill...they aren't giving the Maximas away because they are selling. 34 for a 39k is one heck of a deal though...thats impressive. As much as I like my Max I'd love to drive it in (only 1700 miles on it) and swap for a Premium+tech if some low interest rates came out.

I had no choice but to opt for the Premium package, as my gnarly old hands somehow lost their circulation over the past three-quarters of a century, and even warm gloves aren't enough, so I have to have the heated steering wheel.

Once I had the Premium, I found several features of the Tech package were already standard with the Premium, so adding the tech package was only $1605 invoice. Adding the tech package to the SV would have been $2082 invoice, and adding the tech package to the Sport package would have been $1952 invoice.

This is the first time I have ever had a navi/tech package, and it will take me months to learn all the features/options. A large portion of the Owner's Manual (which is over 400 pages) is dedicated to the operation of this screen, and there is an additional 234 page manual solely covering the navi system. Maybe I should just become a nuclear physicist instead of a Maxima driver.

I got the heated steering wheel, I just didn't wanna drop the extra 2K on the Nav...but part of me wants a different color, Nav, and maybe even the premium vs the Sport....1700 mile trade in probably wouldnt be too bad a hit.
