Intelligent Key Problem

Last night at work a coworker wanted to see my car. I was showing him how it's impossible to lock your keys in the car... Well I dropped the keys in the trunk and slammed her shut. Nothing happened. Keys were locked in the trunk. so, I've accidentally left my keys in the trunk while closing it 20+ times every time the trunk pops right back open. Any idea why it didn't work this time? Everything is functioning normally.

Have you tried pressing the button under the chrome bar to open the trunk?

Only time this happened to us is when the wife had the smart key buried at the bottom of her handbag. I'm guessing all the crap blocked the RFID signal.

Perhaps the battery in your fob is getting weak?

@Ghotz yeah about 75 times haha was scared an alarm would start going off.

@jommbi there was literally nothing else in the trunk... just the keys sitting in the middle of it.

Also, since I have recovered my keys and done this 40 more times and everytime the trunk is popping right back open.

I am sure the car can still start with the keys in the trunk? I know I throw mine in the back seat sometimes!

I remember I went to check out a TL and the dealer threw the keys in the trunk, closed it, and it popped right back open. I tried it with the Maxima and it didnt work, do our cars have that feature!?

When I mas looking at Maximas the salesman threw the key in the driver footwell, closes the door and it locked. He had to go find the second key fob, LOL.

I guess theres no problem them. These things just can't be 100%.

@harsh2888 Yes our cars do have this feature. I was just unlucky and it didn't work this time.
