Key Fob Problem - Please Help

Hello all, today I replaced the battery in both of my key fob's as they both were low according to the car. After replacing the batteries the key fob's will no longer function (unlock, lock, alarm etc.) I tried putting the old batteries back in to see if the new batteries were DOA but that wasn't the issue.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am able to start the car and drive but do not want to take it to Nissan and pay for them to program the remotes unless I have to.

My Maxima is a 2010 SV Fully Loaded with 11k miles

Thanks in advance

Probably a stupid question......I suppose the batteries are installed right side up?
