Folks with Monroe quick strut
Folks with Monroe quick strut
Installed fronts a couple nights ago and not sure if it’s just how they are, and I’m not expecting a stock ride, but these things are not exactly forgiving over relatively bad bumps. Not sure if I didn’t install them properly or something but over fairly bad bumps they are kinda brutal. Is that just how these are? Everything seams fine, no funny noises at all just not exactly smooth over somewhat ****ty roads. Curious to hear others experience.
Your new strut and coils should not ride that much differently than your old ones. Unless the old ones were broken or totally worn out. When you say not forgiving over bad roads do you mean they are bottoming out? I would not accept that situation. I would consider pulling one of the struts out and compare the sizing to the old struts and coils. I have seen too many issues with aftermarket manufacturers specify struts for multiple makes and models so that they can make as many sales as possible. When in fact the struts/shocks do not fit properly. I believe Sachs is the OEM manufacturer for the Maxima struts, not sure about coils. I would consider purchasing OEM /Sachs, but not from the dealer.
They didnt have the quick strut a few years back when i put the monroe struts on mine (not the complete coil and strut, just the strut) but i can say my ride was better. Yes, rough roads were bad even when the car was new, but after 6 or 7 years, they got worse. So maybe the coil strength or compression rate different, but getting worse???? I havent heard of that exceprt the time 30 years back when i didnt torque the mounting bolts correctly. But then, you should hear clunking in addition to poor ride.
Best of luck getting to the root. But on the bright side, the warranty is pretty good .

Thanks the replies guys. I’m going to give the company a call and get their opinion as well. My old suspension was shot and so is my rear but only had money for the fronts at the moment. I’m trying to make sure I’m not going crazy and it’s actually the rears making the noise and maybe I was just used to it before but expected different since I’m paying close attention. That being said, it’s pretty loud friggen bang if you ask me. No clunking or weird noises outside of the very first ride after the install. It was about a 3 minute ride and could hear/feel something when turning, that went away the next ride. I’m gonna get another set of ears in here soon and see if they think it’s front or rear
