Rear brake issue

Hi guys, I'm completely at odds as to what's going on, 3 weeks ago I replace the rear brakes on my wife's 2012 Maxima and noticed after about a week the left rear rotor had uneven wear on the surface and a rust ring midway from the top. So I replaced the caliper and rotor as well as the the brake hose and behold a week later same issue. So today I replaced the caliper under warranty and rotor and again after doing the brake embedding procedure I see this is going to happen again. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be possibly going on??

Here is how it looks like today after caliper and rotor replacement. It looks to be happening again.

Your caliper bracket is misaligned. Check that your mounting contact surfaces are mated properly (square). Have someone stomp on the brakes while you inspect. Depress brakes, inspect, release brakes, spin rotor, inspect mounting points, etc. Use a flashlight, even if it's daylight, shine from behind and at different angles in attempt to see light where there shouldn't be any. You're looking for the reason the aft-half of the pad is all that is making contact with the rotor. Your reassembly procedure is the culprit. Easy fix though, you just have to find it. You did it right on the other side

Forgot to add: Check for binding on the guide pins. Smooth action is the game here.

Yes will do! Tomorrow morning I'm going to take a look and see what's going on back there. Thanks for the input I appreciate it I'll post back after I figure out what's going on and if I resolved it.

Get some photos while you have it apart if possible. Especially when you find the problem. Cheers.

I do truly hate to admit this, but i did but put my pads on backward with similar wear patterns . But it also looks as if if the pads arent the correct size. Do let us know what you find.

It'll happen. I've seen if before

I think he just has a misalignment or pads not seated correctly. No big deal. He's probably burnishing them in as we speak.

Hi guys, I spent most of the day yesterday trying to figure this out, removing the pads reinstalling etc. After many attempts it boiled down to improper alignment due to the wrong series pads being mixed in the box. I pretty much had one pad that wasn't to spec with the rest and causing that improper embedding. Thank you user1 for your input if you had not suggested I go back and re check multiple things I wouldn't of figured this out. LT Thank you as well and as always guys I appreciate the help!

I wonder if you got a set that was previously purchased then returned with the wrong pad?

Glad you got it fingered out! Happy motoring!

Brake pad boxes are never sealed with tape or labels in my experience. I always wondered if something like this could ever happen. Could have even fallen off a shelf, hit another box, both opened, and the clerk just put 2 of each backin. That's why when I buy shoes I always try/check both shoes, to make sure someone else didn't switch them out one for one...glad you got sorted out!
