Ok awesome! I look forward to hearing back from you, if it goes smoothly I'll probably buy one of these units too.

For S or SV models:

- Look for radios with part number 25915-9DD0B

For SL, SR or Platinum:

- Look for radios with part number 25915-9DD1B

Note the last letter (B) in either scenario can vary and not matter for this application. So instead of 9DD1B, it could be 9DD1A (I've seen both).

For reference our '16 models are 25915-4RA0B and 4RA1B respectively.

Visual Reference of the back of what Bose units:

And visual reference of Non Bose Units:

Everything else about the units is identical as you can see. The plugs between '16 and '17 models are identical - apart from that 3rd plug/port which appears to be tied to the Bose system some how.

As a heads up, if you have a '16 S or SV, theres a '17/Carplay enabled head unit on ebay right now for $450: http://www.ebay.com/itm/16-17-Nissan...NZahbh&vxp=mtr

I have a 16 Maxima Platinum (Bose) and I am looking to do a swap. Today I have been scouring the salvage parts database and I keep coming across these part numbers that say they came out of a 17 but I can't seem to match them up on the Nissan parts search site.
#25915-9DD0A
#25915-9DD0C

#25915-9DD0B does direct me to the same lookup code for the Controller Assy- Master (25915P) but it does not distinguish to me as to whether it matches up to the 2017 or 2016 and whether or not its a Bose part, it simply brings up both options. Any one have any clue about those two part numbers? I can get a pretty good deal on either of those but I have to make sure it fits!

You need a unit that ends in 9DD1[insert A, B, C, D, etc].

For you Platinum (or SL or SR) the number 1 in that string is what differentiates Bose units from non-Bose units.

I just got mine in the mail. About to head out to perform the swap. Will report back.

That's super helpful. Let me know how it goes! I think I may have found a unit for $350 so assuming yours works out I want to pull the trigger and get it done.

IT WORKED! And was so incredibly easy. Even taking the dash apart is really straight forward.

For those of you attempting, reference this for how to remove the existing unit:
http://www.metraonline.com/files/pro...9-7630_web.pdf

And then once thats all removed, it's literally just unplug and then plug back into the new unit. And put it all back in place. The unit I picked up even still has its XM subscription (and the previous owners address stored as "home" - ha!).

Note: I circled the part number in the first image for reference. What I detailed above is correct. Bose units with carplay are delineated using "9DD1[insert A, B, C, D, etc]". Non Bose units are delineated using "9DD0[insert A, B, C, D, etc]". The "1" distinguishes a Bose unit vs a "0" for a non Bose.

Oh. And can also confirm the third plug outlined in my images here and in my post above is not used on my SR. I'm wondering if it has something to do with the 4G connection option - or potentially something for Platinum models. No matter - its not used/needed in an SR. And I can't imagine its used in an SL either.

Anyway - here's some pics:

I can confirm that if you purchased that unit it will work. Based on my own swap/install today.

Nice job and thanks for your very helpful contribution with pictures. Perhaps the third plug is reserved for the around view monitor. To the best of my knowledge there is another module somewhere that processes/compiles the 4 inputs. If you mess around with the hidden settings you can enable around view monitor mode on any unit, but it won't work without the hardware. Cheers

This is awesome! I have searched google with no luck finding a Bose unit less thank 2k. Anyone care to share a link for a 25915-9DD1D or E unit for the 16 SR with a more reasonable price?

Also saw some other units that were missing the SD card. How do you get a replacement? From the dealer?

I was lucky enough to find one from a '17 SL with only 75 miles on it. I did pay $700 for it. And it thankfully came with not only an SD card - but the latest version.

I used this site to search for a unit:

Can I use my old SD card that came with the 2016 Maxima or do I have to get a SD card that has the same part number as the navigation unit? For example, the part number I just ordered is 25915-9DD0A. Do I need a 25915-9DD0A SD card? Can a 25915-9DD0B or 25915-9DD0C or 25915-9DD0D SD card work? Thanks in advance!

It would benefit you and others by reading at least the last two pages of this thread.

But no, you cannot. If the unit you ordered doesn’t have a SD card, you’ll need to order a new one from Nissan. The SD card is individual to the unit/radio. So you need to supply the serial number of the radio found within the settings.

You have to order a sd card for the 17' radio if it doesn't come with it. Use the serial number on the 17' radio when you order the card. Also see if you can get the original vehicle of the donor vehicle if you can also. I had to order a new card because mine didn't come with the radio.

I saw you had said something about getting having to get a 17 sd card and didn't know if you ended up not having to.
I had to order a sd because my radio didn't have one. I don't have the bose system but I made sure to buy a non Bose 17' model. It was plug and play.

Sorry for the delay in responding to you guys but I haven't been receiving notifications from the thread.

Glad to see others had success as well.

Got a Bose HU for my Platinum for $375 from a salvage yard in AL. As far as aesthetics, it's in perfect condition and had the map card. Getting ready to install any minute now, will let you guys know how it goes!

Wow. I really want one but have been striking out. It's has to be clean and have the SD card and be a Bose unit. Where did you find yours that's a good deal. Maybe I'm just bad at searching. I'm in Los Angeles btw

Okay
Okay so im running into an issue. I have the platinum, so it has surround view. The unit is behaving as if I have an SR or SL. The part number fits each unit 25915-9DD1A, so what gives? Anyone have any ideas or have run into this?

I am betting you have to go into the hidden settings menu and tell it that it has 4 camera surround.

The following video will get you in that hidden settings menu. You will see the camera selection at about 2:35 in the video.

That did the trick! It has a selection of no camera, rear camera, and AVM. Just had to change the settings and it was that simple. That was my only issue with the install, otherwise would have taken 30 minutes and is super easy. So platinum owners, just make sure to adjust that settings which is apparently super easy. Thanks so much for the help man I was reviewing every resource possible and hitting all dead ends. I was so stressed and you saved me big time!

I just swapped a 9DD0A unit in and the screen is not turning on. I have a 2016 SV. The AC works. Every button lights up but the buttons do not work. Additionally, the sound that should come from the front and rear sonar sensors are not going off. Should the screen turn on with just the 7 connections connected (I don't have the bose model)? Any one have ideas??

Yes, it should turn on. Unplug all the connections and make sure they are pushed in. Also make sure the two white connectors are inserted into the correct slot. They are very similar and could be easily plugged into the wrong plug.

These units are apparently very touchy. They can be broken quite easily. I had done what several people have done here. I found a 2017 unit with car play on eBay and installed it in my car. Unfortunately, I was a guinea pig and realized that I purchased a non-bose unit and my car has bose, so everything worked but the sound. So, I tried putting my old unit back in and was going to resell the unit I had just purchased. Somewhere along the way, the original unit broke inside. It no longer worked. I thought I was done. Luckily, the car is still under warranty, so I took it in a played dumb as though I had no idea how it broke. Technically, I still don't know why it would no longer work. They ended up ordering me a replacement, free of charge, and installed it. I will no longer attempt this mod, but I wish you all luck. I only mention this because I'm worried that cstevens may have encountered the same issue. My old one did the same thing when I put it back in and turned it on.

I feel like everyone should be removing the negative battery cable when installing/removing the head unit. Is this not the case?

You could be quite right. I did not and maybe that killed it? I, unfortunately, am not knowledgeable enough to know that.

People should absolutely be doing this. Or taking great care to not touch metal on metal - nothing that would create a short.

I assume your SR has the Bose system, correct? Also, what did you search for on eBay to find it?

Airbag light

Alright I successfully installed ithe whole component and everything is working. I unplugged the negative terminal of the battery during the install. However after starting the car, I realized the airbag lights were on (might have been blinking, don't remember). I think the air bag light is on because I forgot to plug in the passenger side airbag indicator when I started the car. So then I plugged it in and and airbag light is still on. It's solid, not blinking/flashing. Anyone know how to fix this? Thank you in advance.

Its always on. Unless someone is sitting in the passenger seat.

Though just to be clear - you're referring to the light just to the right of the radio? The bottom right corner. Scroll up to the images included in my post and others. It shows the light on as well.

If it's the passenger airbag light on the right hand side, that's normal. There was a flash with one of the recalls that kept that illuminated, so if you never noticed it before, then maybe that's also in this unit.

You can clear it with an advanced diagnostic tool.
I know Advance Auto and Autozone have free code reading service,
if you ask them nicely, they maybe able to erase the code for you, but its
against their policies.
And all of this is under assumption that you forgot to plug the harness when you first started the car and not because there is an actual problem with airbag system

For me, definitely. But I’m a nerd. And love new things to play with. But Apple Maps with iOS11 updates is light years ahead of the stock mapping system.
