went too wide on the rear

I finally pulled the trigger and got a new set of wheels. I got a set of Spec- 1 spm 78 staggered 20x10.5 rear and 20x9 front. The front is ol. It's the back that's too wide. I was planning on lowering the car but it rubs on the rear. Is there any thing can be done with the rubbing issue?

Use this on your rear fenders. You can then lower your car as much as you want.

You might just need to roll your rear fenders. What offset are you running? +35, +45, etc.

in all honesty, I really dont know what the offset was. I left it up to the shop and failed, lol. I might just hae to invest on a fender roller and roll it out.

its almost 3/4" out

You definitely don't need to roll your fenders that's not enough to warrant that. Based on your pic you negative camber is the way to go.

Ditto. You always have the select few that have to add their .02 without addressing the question.

Those things are nice, but why 10.5 in the rear if it's causing this much trouble??? Go back to a 9 in the rear, it will likely eliminate all your problems.

As I stated earlier, it was sold as a staggered set up. The shop assured me that there wasn't gonna be any fitment issue...until I drove it home...the shop won't replace or swap the wheels to a narrower set, so As pissed as I am, I'm stuck with it. They offered to install a 1/2" lift but that's not what I want the car to sit.

Oh, I didn't see that, must have been in the deleted posts. That said, man, that's harsh, I can't imagine a shop doing this kind of shoddy and getting away with it. Hope you find an option, but I would not roll the fenders...worst case get pair of 9" wide of the same wheels...take a loss yes, but don't destroy the car. ESPECIALLY not a lift! This shop sounds quite dangerous!

So, what did you wind up doing?

My wheels are 20"x9" square. ET is 35 and they just make it. The only time anything rubs is when the front wheels are fully turned and I hit a bump. The clearance is millimeters, so I got lucky with my educated guess on sizing.

How much do your wheels weigh? I found some 20" wheels I liked and they weighed over 50 lbs per wheel. I was in disbelief, but verified the weight several places. The wheels I went with are 28 lbs each, which is fairly light for 20's.

That shop must not be very reputable. They tell you the wheels will fit, they're wrong, and their only option is to lift the car? WTF, I'd refrain from using them again. Good luck.

10x20 +40 offset 255/35/20 all around.

I went 10x20 all the way around and I have a real light rubbing issue in the back part of the front wheel wells, not the fenders but the plastic covers. I mean very minimal. I have noticed it when on an angle. No noise issues either.
I was told that I could just sand down the plastic cover that is rubbing. Any other suggestions?

liner rub

I had same issues with mine with 20x9 on fronts. there isn't enough room for the liner to be pushed back with heat gun because there is a secondary metal brace behind the fender liner. I ended up cutting the liner where it rubbed and then banging the metal brace in a little, spraying undercoating over brace.

The retailer is sending me me 4 245/35/20 tires to swap out. He said it should take care of the rubbing. Do you think it will work? And can you send me pictures on how the wheel well looks after you cut it?

Fender liner trimming

Here's some of the of inner liner. I also downsized to 245/35/20 and it still rubbed until I ended up trimming.

Do you have any images of the stretch? The retailer is sending me tires (245/35/20) and I want to get an idea of how they are going to look.
