Delay when shifting into reverse

Hey guys, have a delay when shifting into reverse. Not a huge deal, but does take rather long to go into reverse. Only have about 1000 miles on the car, could it be just the break in period? Thanks

100% Normal. Nothing to worry about.

When you say "lag", is this seconds or tenths of a second? My '17 SL maybe lags tenths of a second when I drop it in Reverse, but when finished backing I shift it into Drive and get a 1 to 2 second lag. Bugs me! Dealer says this is normal for the CVT. I guess lag is better than a "clunk".

I'd say it's a good half second for both reverse and drive. One thing I noticed, is if the car is at a slight angle and I put it in reverse,, theres no delay at all. So almost like the weight of the car puts it in reverse quicker. Sounds dumb, but true

I think it's normal

mine is usually quick to shift, but occasionally it has to "think about it" for a second or two. There may some factors involved including how warm the transmission oil is, how quickly you came to a stop before switching to reverse, etc.

I don't think you think you can really damage it. If you want some stupid fun, look on for youtube for people slamming their cars into reverse while driving, Most modern cars won't do actually do it

That anomaly sounds like CVT hydraulic pump to me, although the delay may be normal as ricksmith says. I do agree that a half second can seem like an eternity.
