How long do you plan on owning the car?

i plan on driving mine into the ground so an extended warranty (to 100K) seemed to be a good investment. Generally I don’t but on my last car my wife insisted and it paid off when the transmission failed so I was a bit more compliant this time.

In the past I wouldn't but I will run a car out of the standard warranty in less than 18 months, so I decided I wanted the extra coverage. Of course I really haven't needed it yet on the Maxima but I have the piece of mind.

If you get the extended warranty, and never have to use it, it was because you had it that you never needed it. I and if you need it then it was a great investment. I think its a win win decision.

I'd probably bite on a warranty extension if it is a Nissan sponsored contract and you are keeping the car for some time after the factory coverage expires. What kind of numbers are you seeing? If too high, then I would pay into a savings account earmarked for this. As an extreme example, I have a 2011 Jaguar XK that the dealer wnated $7200 bucks to cover the car for 2 additonal years! Needly to say I took my chances and saved a ton of cash.
