Does anyone have an issue with the Driver Side Mirror Shaking?

So just leased my '20 Maxima Platinum Reserve Maxima about 2-months ago and since then I've had the entire driver side mirror replaced twice due to it shaking...the entire housing is fine, it's the physical mirror shakes whenever I'm at high speeds (between 65-75+mph).

Does anyone experience this same issue?? I tried capturing a video of it while driving, but the camera automatically corrects itself when it noticed destabilization in its focus on the mirror.

The service techs state that Nissan is aware of the issue and there is no fix...so now I'm feeling like they are washing their hands of my situation and not wanting to replace it a third time...which would allow me to file for "Illinois Lemon Law" regulations - this forcing them to take the lease back from me. Thoughts on that matter as well??

Before you throw around the phrase "Illinois Lemon Law", you may want to familiarize your self with the Illinois Lemon Law.

Is My Vehicle a Lemon?

In order to be covered by the Illinois Lemon Law, a vehicle must:
  • have a nonconformity that both substantially impairs the use , market value or safety of the vehicle and is not repairable by the dealer or manufacturer in at least four attempts for the same repair, or
  • be out of service for a total of 30 or more business days.
The Lemon Law DOES Cover: New Cars (purchased or leased)

How Does the Lemon Law Work?

Manufacturers establish an Industry Third Party Dispute Resolution Program to evaluate your claim. You can find information about this program in your vehicle ownership manual. To initiate action under the Lemon Law, contact the designated manufacturer representative for your vehicle. This representative will forward the required information and forms to you.

Preserving Your Claim

Lemon Law claims cannot be initiated directly through the dealer. Many consumers have lost their Lemon Law remedy because they waited longer than 12 months from the purchase date, the time period in which Lemon Law complaints must be filed, all the while believing they were proceeding under the Lemon Law through their dealer.

Keep in mind - it is extremely important that you file with your designated representative before your right to do so has expired!

Winning Your Claim

If the Dispute Board rules in your favor, you can expect one of the following compensations:
  • you will receive a replacement vehicle of like or similar value.
  • the manufacturer will buy your vehicle back from you, less the value for miles driven.
If you are dissatisfied with the decision of the Dispute Board, you may bring a civil action to enforce your rights under this Act. The manufacturer, however, may not dispute the board's decision.

You will have a problem with "have a nonconformity that both substantially impairs the use, market value or safety of the vehicle."

Looks to me you will not be able to use the Illinois Lemon Law in this case. Good luck.

You are definitely thinking correctly. Follow your brain.

Hmmm that's weird, my mirrors are fine at high speeds. So weird that replacing the entire mirror doesn't fix it

Yes!! 2020 platinum, I discussed with dealer but haven’t brought in yet. I can feel a small amount of play when I push on glass a certain way. Mine is almost like mirror glass where the mount is not tight. I’m hoping they can fix mine and assumed it was a loose mount inside of housing as your post is first I’ve seen on this issue.

My 20 sr does this and also has a rattle when you close the door. I have a video of this I will find and upload tomorrow. I suspect the issue that makes the sound makes the vibration. I imagine if they actually took the time to take apart the housing they would see it's probably something as stupid and simple as a few rubber orings or similar. But they won't, the units are built and they don't care.

I absolutely love this car but the quality sucks on many different areas and for the price of the car nissan should be ashamed on how they let such a cool car slide with so many areas of pure crap.

First I've heard of it on this site. Is your car otherwise smooth at speed? Wondering about a tire out of round on the passenger side.

Or a CV joint out of spec if the tires are in tolerance.
