Just had a new OEM alternator and Die Hard Gold battery replaced on my 2017 Maxima Platinum (178,440 miles). I was a travel nurse before I retired just to answer the age and mileage questions. Anyways, 6 days later the airbag light came on solid and has stayed on. No blinking whatsoever so no way to do the ACC reset I have seen online. I have done the following checks:
Fuse under dash. ✅
Yellow wiring connections under both seats. ✅
Need to run code scanner next but what else could be causing? Vehicle runs fine, no intermittent electrical issues. Voltage holds steady at 14.2 volts while running. 12.9 when shut off.
Everything else at this point has me concerned it will be a huge and costly repair that only Nissan can perform.
I had the same exact light on. I have an 2017 also. And excuse the ignorance, but when you say scan it is that something Nissan can do or anybody with a scanner could do it.? Also I have a little “ ghost image” on the left side of my display right above the W near the compass image. I’ve never seen that before either. Any advice or help would be appreciated. 😊
Thanks
Sorry to hear you have the solid airbag light. Your root cause could be different to mine. I had this last spring on my 19 SL.
The dealer quoted $4k for the repair of the drivers side seatback airbag system failure, based on their scan, Fortunately, I had an extended warranty and it was covered.
Yes, $4K. still shaking my head on this one. They had to get a new seat back shipped in. this is just my experience.
Do get the dealer scan done if you have not already.
Good luck.
btw, this is my first post in years. hope I've maintained the protocol. I became a member a long long long time ago.....

Damn. You got me shaking mine now. I’ve been trying to decide whether or not I want to keep the maxima or upgrade. I bought an extended warranty when I refinanced the car. One of the smartest things I’ve done. I just put an evaporator coil in it that was $4000 this July. Now I got this air bag sensor on, and I am starting to get worried about the CVT??? all the research I’ve done tells me this has been an issue on these maxima’s. But I loved this car. This is my fourth maxima I liked them so much, I kept upgrading it.
But I’m gonna take it to the dealer this month. I just wanted to get over the holidays before I dealt with it. Still have a $500 deductible. And my warranty will expire in July due to the age of the car. It’s a 2017 with 46,000-47,000 miles on it. So whether I trade it in or not. I still gotta get this fixed.
I’ll update this thread when I find out anything. You know anything about the CVT on them? Is it really an issue?
thanks for reading this.
