On the RWD Nissan had to angle the neck, FWDs don't.

Straightening the air path is a good thing.

they know its a plenum design so it wont matter THAT much, and by doing what they propose it will only make the path straighter, which is better.

The shortest path between two points is a straight line, the saying goes.

The shorter and straighter the intake pipe, same for exhaust, the lower the internal flow resistance and therefore more volume of air can flow through it.

As long as you don't make a nasty diameter transition that is...

$75 for 3 runs with A/F or $65 if you can wait for us to get some people together.

Yeah, perhaps figure a way to set a panel filter in there and have it go right into the TB. Can't really work with the current location of the scoop, though, the elbow is in the wrong place for it to work.

You're kidding right? You know just about everyone in this thread has way more mods than you.

My mouse skills are not the problem. I used to play CS and Quake TF a lot and had decent aim. I also didn't really try to take my time to get it to be a masterpiece, however Nismo3112's 3D image thing just owned me even though we had the exact same thought.

There is a poll in the DC forums to find a date for a group dyno. Submit your preferences there and we'll see how things go.

i applaud the effort.....there are always better ways to do things...right now this is the way V-man has got it set up....he might make changes in the future....or others might do it better...the fact is he is being innovative and i know others are planning on it too.....lets just learn from what might be wrong...now i havent done research on injector flow or open and closed loops at 40% throttle.....yes any bend will add restriction but as long as they are all same diameter and broad enough angles losses will not be noticable....PS i am waiting for someone to use Skyline Individual Throttle bodies and custom sheet metal manifold

wilson manifolds will do it for you. the sheet metal manifold . they charge 1200 per manifold. you still need to drill the holes for the hoses and stuff.

Well the Z plenums are in, and the hood closes. No hole either.

How did you get your hood to close when V's didn't? Did you cut off the bend?

My guess is he cut the neck off, spaced the engine x-member down and possibly removed the bracing from the underside of the hood.

he cut the elbow off, and i think today he was planning on taking it in to get a 3" straight aluminum extension welded on with a slight downward angle before welding a throttle body adapter or possibly reusing the one that he cut off.

but i told him to take some pics so we'll just have to wait and see what's up.

so far i just cut the elbow off, as well as part of the hood brace. I would take pics, but there is nothing to see except a 350Z plenum with its neck cut off.

Hows it drive/sound?

Also, how hot does the hood get now?

It's not done yet. I head to the machine shop hopefully Monday or Tuesday for them to weld my manifold together. Right now I am in the process of preparing the pieces for them to weld.

I would also like to add that I may be able to reuse the maxima valve cover, I just have to shave a bit off of the bottom of the plenum so the oil cap can unscrew.
