350z IM on fwd maxima

As of today:

I took IceY2K1's advice, and shaved a hump off of the front of the manifold, and now I might not even need hood spacers!

Things left to do:
-Run VC breather hoses
-Make a throttle cable mount
-Extend TPS harness

looks like you cut the neck from the oil filler tube? just the pic isnt very clear.
and what hump are you talking about exactly?

This is the hump I shaved:

I just hope there is enough clearance for the motor rocking, but a set of ES mounts should help take care of that.

the ports on the 350z lower im are a perfect match for the maxima heads.

But for AF tuning that is a good price, I will give you that much

They aren't necesarily smaller. The entry angles between the banks is different. What you're looking at are cross sections of the similarly shaped ports cut at different angles.

Yeah if one bank was smaller, wouldnt it be leaner? Wouldn't that show up on the widebands or the ECU throwing a code?

Only if the smaller ports didn't have compensating (higher) air velocities to deliver equal air masses to each cylinder. But that would cause a different set of problems altogether.
Probably a few hours late, but here are a few pics to illustrate what you guys have been talking about
350Z on the right. Yes they are the same height.

Top view. 350Z on the bottom. I will get out the bore gauges tomorrow to see what the actual flow areas are.

The next two pics are meant to show how much more of a straight thru shot that the flow path is in the 350Z LIM. I adjusted the camera angle to maximize the "visible" port area on the other side of the LIM
The first one is the FWD LIM

Notice how the 350Z path below is much straighter.

These last two pics are just closeups of the head ports.

Notice on the 350Z port below there is a small machined step on the inboard lip. It only goes about halfway around the port circumference.
It is on the wrong side of the port to prevent flow separation so there must be another reason. Any ideas?
