So I should be able to take the ring dowel ping out then?

ok scratch the ideal about using the auto ring. i drilled it out and bolted it up but the auto ring hits the block after bolting the flywheel up.

update, so the car has been going well. put nearly 700miles on it. i attempted to change the "leaky" pass axle seal last nite, and nissan gave me the wrong part. there is a seal for pre and post 6/03 trannies and the parts guy never asked my build date, thus me getting the wrong part. so i exchanged it today and will install it this week. although.....

my axle seal may not be leaking. i talked to a tech and he told me that the axle seal seals on a machined part on the axle its self, and there is no dust shield for it like there is on the 5spd. so i am going to machine a bit more metal off the axle and bracket and see if i can get it to seal with the old seal, before replacing it.

Then what do you call a max with 3.5 and 6-speed that's actually using the 2k2 ECU, DBW, etc?

I propose to call any A32 with a VQ35 a A32C, reguardless of transmission or engine control. Because Nissan/Infiniti already used A32B.

I wonder if they would wear into a quieter pattern after a whole? I know thats the case with my 1/10 scale stuff some times.

It probably does wear in after a while..

update: so there has been the starter noise when i can deal with, well on weds, when i tried to start the car, and it cranked, but didnt catch. so i stopped, then attempted to crank it again, and i could hear the starter spinning but the car wasnt starting. broken ring gear tooth. i have to put a wrench on the crank and turn the motor a bit to get to the point where there are teeth. it seems to have gotten worse since then. i had to push start the car on thurs and today also. im going to get another one thru the warranty, but i need to figure out why this is happening. the starter, as the pics will show, isnt in bad shape. the teeth are fine, but the case is fuked.

sr20den, u said u arent having reliability problems like i am, but i dont understand why i am. i got the exact same setup, except i got a spec clutch and not an oem one.

any inputs are greatly appreciated.

now that i look at my pics more, i think why my teeth are coming off, is because, the pressure plate bolts are hitting the starter casing, which is binding it up and the starter is locking up with the teeth and thus, breaking off teeth.

does this make sense? or am i nuts?

Yes.

Any particular reason you didn't use the FWD JWT flywheel? Would've been more straightforward with no performance compromise.

Yeah i got it brand new for $250 shipped. I would have got a maxima flywheel but the 350 flywheel it said to work so I could not pass on the brand new flywheel for $250

Ok with welding the timing ring to the flywheel will it make it unbalanced? And what will it do being unbalanced? I think I got the auto ring to work after cutting it down! It lines up with the sensor. Right donw the center of the sensor. But i welded it to the 3.5 timing ring witch sit futher back out of the way. I tryed to sapce them out evenly and put about 1 inch of weld.

I would call some shops and see how much they will balance the flywheel for, might as well do it before putting it back into the car.

thats why i got a flywheel with a bolt on timing ring and travis's cps ring. i didnt want to have to mess with balancing the flywheel.
