well if your 3.5 swapped the VIAS is open all the time so your not going to loose that much low end because youve already lost it when the motor was swapped in. This pretty much frees up some more air space and allows you to do the full SSIM.

It depends if you did the SSIM or not. Buy cutting the shelf out of the intake manifold, your top end will go through the roof! I highly recommend it!

What do you use to cut the shelf out of the manifold?
And is there any pics?

I do not offer this service. I am going to experiment with a few different methods to cut the shelf out. If I can find a really clean way to do the SSIM, I will offer this to the public.

A few other people have posted pics on this forum. Search for "ssim" and I'm sure you'll find some information.

Please try to keep this thread on topic. I am in no way associated with the link posted above. NWP Engineering has been thinking about performing the SSIM for over a year now. But we have been too busy releasing new products. This still may be a possibility. We are currently experimenting with several different cutting methods. But if we aren't able to do a flawless job on the SSIM, then we will not put our name on it.

What happens if you dont like the way the car feels after the ssim/vias removal. Can you just put the vias back in without any side effects?Just curious as to whether its as good as garbage as soon as its taken out.

Sure, you can put that ugly vias plate back on. But, why not keep the plate that Aaron made on your manifold? It looks a helluva lot better.

If all you did was remove the VIAS, then yes, you can always put the VIAS assembly back in exactly the way it was.

But if you did the SSIM (cut the shelf out of the UIM), then you will need a whole new UIM in order to go back to stock.

What was the main complaint from doing the SSIM? I was thinking about doing this mod...

Ok great. Please keep in mind that you get FREE shipping when you order both the VQ35 Spacers and the VIAS/SSIM Block Plate together.

But right now, the VQ35DE Spacers are on backorder. Orders are still being accepted though. Once the first batch of VIAS Plates sell out, this free shipping promotion will end. I only expect this promotion to go on for another week or so.

Please visit www.NWPEngineering.com for more information or feel free to post any time.

Just installed the plate and noticed oil all over the inside of the intake manifold. Is that cause for concern?

Normal, but remember to keep this on topic. There are threads about the oil in the manifold around here somewhere. Search and you will find.

Yeah, that is just blowby oil. Happens in every Nissan that has a breather hose from the valve cover to intake tube.

The plate looks awesome!

The VIAS/SSIM Block Plates are currently on backorder. We hope to have more in stock sometime in March.

Does the idle fluctuate up and down and make this whistling noise at idle? If so, try to find where the whistling is coming from.

If the shop applied RTV just like in the instructions, then you shouldn't have any kind of intake leak.

Also, did the shop do the procedures at the end of the instructions? The Idle Air Control procedure may need to be done.

Also, if it doesn't whistle at idle and only during part throttle acceleration, then this is normal for some VQ35 Maximas once the stock gaskets are eliminated. Adding these port matched intake spacers without the gaskets change the intake tone and some experience a whistle or woosh sound at part throttle acceleration.

Aaron I wanna get the spacers and the plate. Your site says the plate is completly out and no expected ship date. Do you have a ball park when your going to get more plates? Also is the free shipping over when you buy both? I'd prefer to get both at the same time as I'm buying the SSIM too and wanna do everything at once.

Yes, right now, the VIAS/SSIM Block Plate Kits are on backorder. Since we do not have an exact expected release date, that is why you see that message on the website. But we hope to have more in by the end of March. We should have an exact ship date posted on the website within the next few days.

And I'm sorry, the free shipping for the combo was for a limited time only. That offer is no longer in effect. But, we will ship both items together in the same box so you save on shipping costs.

Please let me know if you have any more questions. Thanks.

The whine almost sounds just like my old sc'ed car. Its at idle and everytime I shift and then if im off throttle or under say 20% throttle. As soon as i get on it the car it doesnt make the noise.

Do you have an idle that fluctuates? Or is it nice and steady? If it's steady and you have no CELs, then you are fine. Every engine and every intake setup is going sound different from another Maxima. I have not personally tested the SSIM, so I can't comment on the change in intake noise. But if your idle is ok, then I'm sure you do not have an intake leak.

I would have the shop look at it to determine where the noise is coming from. I have personally never heard that before.
