Meth/Water Injection Install N/A
#41
Got my 2 solenoids for the meth injection into the nitrous system. Also have mounted a temperature sensor in the IM so I can monitor the temp reduction due to the meth. I will install a switch to go back and forth and compare temps in the IM as opposed to the MAF temp.
Tomorrow I will put the intake back together and do some testing. I will also put in an additional nozzle for cruising and a valve to switch back and forth.

If I had known you were going in this direction and saw this thread earlier I could have saved you some money. I know Chance (Owner of Devils Own) really nice guy. He's from Oklahoma City which is where I also am from. Sorry I didn't see this earlier. Good luck next month.

I haven't run the meth through the nitrous yet just the engine. Haven't done any back to back runs but it seems to be a 1/10 or so quicker. Going to wait until next year to run it through the nitrous, I don't want to experiment on the last race of the year.
I've been playing a bit with it on the highway cruising but even the smallest nozzle is too large and runs out after 1/2 hour or so. I am going to decrease the pressure and try again. I can tell by the exhaust that it is definately cleaning the engine.
Not going to do any runs on sunday to try and break my record. I had a nitrous backfire on the way to the track on the 13 sep trying to lower my bottle pressure at part throttle. Stupid. I think I bent a valve or 2, it won't idle and a/f is all over the place. Leakdown is under 80%. It seems ok at wot as I was able to run mid 11's pretty easily. My trans is also slipping in 3rd gear and I'm going to replace it. Three years of hard racing has finally taken its toll.

Well I pulled my motor and trans. Have swapped heads from my old engine that blew when it over revved due to the EU with only 15k. I think I bent a couple of valves when the nitrous backfired when I was trying to reduce bottle pressure at part throttle on the highway. ( ya stupid)
So I have installed the new heads and now working on the trans. I bought a new trans with 2500 miles on it from a 1999 that was wrecked in dec 99 and it looks brand new. I am swapping my diff and installing a TransGo HD kit. I pulled apart the old VB today to see how difficult the Transgo install would be and it seems to be fairly simple as far as the VB mods go. I don't think I will pull the trans apart to install the lube and drum rings, mainly because the trans is new and I don't think I want to get into the guts of the trans.
The only tricky part about the VB is keeping the ***** and springs contained when you separate the different sections of the VB. It mainly consists of installing new springs (SOME WEAKER, SOME STRONGER) and drilling holes bigger, chamfer valve bores etc.
Tomorrow I will swap my diff and hopefully pull the VB and do it as well. The only drawback is that I won't get a chance to test it until spring. I am leaving for Fla in 2 weeks and won't return until Apr sometime when the snow leaves.
I am picking up my wheels on the way down (Weld Prostars 8x15 and 3.5x15's) and will buy a new set of M&H 23x8.5x15's and M/T 22x4.5x15 (7 lbs)). That should shave a bit of weight as well. My current wheels are only 7" so I have kept my tire sizes to 7.5 and 8" which isn't the best combo. Picking up a few other goodies for next season as well which should up help improve my times and consistency.

interesting, so are your meth solenoids seeing the high pressure from the nitrous?? or they are totally seperate? kinda confused, i read you got solenoids that will open at lower psi, but are they designed to hold upto the higher pressures as well? not too sure how much intake temps will differ as apposed to the meth keeping the combustion chambers cooler. you are going to be running on nitro methane! lol nice
