Help locating Surratt's 2002 5.7 swap thread

I have clicked on a handful of links that dont seem to work anymore for his thread. Anyone know where I can find it?

This is where I thought it was.

https://maxima.org/forums/all-motor/...vq35-info.html

Im looking for the progress thread where he swapped an 09 motor in his 02 max.

Thanks,
Matt

Ah so he did delete it. I figured as much.

Dwapenyi, that's just another vehicle he swapped. His original one was parted out a while back.

I hope this means cam signal plates.
(since I've had no luck )

These swaps may become a hobby of mine. I can only imagine how much faster/easier it is a 2nd time.

Darren, i'm glad there is a write up coming soon. I had specific pages marked for reference in the old thread on some good information.

Any estimate when you'll have that guy live?

The photo darren sent to me helped me nailed it.

Didn't need a buncha fancy measurements or tools this time, eyeballed it and got it right the first try (Also because I didn't have cipher with me, woulda did it like last time, just crank the motor with the valve covers off and let ciper tell me the live readings ).

I'm interested in seeing his creation for the tensioner.

Any luck with getting this thread back or information back? Need a motor now and not completely sure what is all involved with this swap and cost over a 6th gen motor.

I have some info in my thread. I left some stuff out b/c I figured Darren's thread would be around for reference.

https://maxima.org/forums/all-motor/...to-2002-a.html

quick and dirty recap (can I do anything right lol) of what is not in my thread:

Swap pass motor mount. You need longer bolts for the two top ones (I don't remember, just measure and figure it out, simple ****). I don't recall what the deal is with the bottom one.
Need to buy the cam signal inverter from Darren (or build it, but I'm lazy). http://www.nisformance.com/Default.asp
Need the TB adapter harness or pigtail.
Install the VIAS. I think Darren used one of the solenoids off the new engine, idk. I just used the original VIAS system (split to both valves of course) to make sure it worked. Or you could just plug in the solenoid and rig the valves open.
Need real tuning solution to extract all those ponies and fix AFR.
Need 3.5/4" intake for moar powah (which will need bigger injectors or more pressure)!

This is a codeless swap with O2 sim or defoulers.

It's actually pretty damn easy. I did it without help and it went pretty fast.

I can take pics of stuff that's visible if you want, just let me know. I'm going to append this in my thread, so others with 5.7 swap chiming in would be a help to make my thread more productive for the new guys!

Hey child appreciate the PM. My question is swapping the throttle body/IM and Fuel Rail. Can that just be swapped over to the new motor and call it a done deal? I'm not looking for ultimate ponies out of the max. Just enjoy the crap out of the car as a DD. I have 3 other rigs that take all my time and money. Just wanna get that damn thing running and passing crappy CA emissions. Actually it still runs but it's only a matter of time before the motor lets go. I've had a hard time finding legit 6th gen motors in my area, hence my interest in this swap.

THANK YOU!

The old 3.5 intake manifolds/fuel rail/TB will not transfer over to the newer 07+/09+ engines.

You could swap the rail by wallowing out the holes, iirc, but there's really no point since it's a simple splice job and you'll have new injectors that spray better.

The new nylon hose is smaller, so I used two different adapters and screwed them together (with permanent thread lock lol). I couldn't find a barbed coupler with different diameters at the ****ty hardware stores.

The mounting tabs are in different locations. See grey99max's "Something I'm thinking about doing" thread in the Nitrous section for the lowdown of a 07+/09+ manifold swap on the older 3.5.

I do agree with you there - there is no point in using the older manifold/fuel rails on the newer engine.

Yeah, I was remembering it half-right. Redrill 3 of the rail mounts and make a little bracket for the 4th. Rigging is fun
Weld some washers over the new holes if you're paranoid.
