DEI 2-Way Trancievers
I was looking around on DEI's (http://www.directed.com) site and found this in the New Products section under Press:
2-WAY TRANSCEIVERS
January 1, 2002
You asked for it and Directed delivers! Coming in third quarter 2002, new remote start systems in the Viper, Python and Clifford lines will feature Directed’s sleek, good looking 2-way transceiver, small enough to fit comfortably on a pocket keychain! This new local two-way RF remote, with its easy-to-understand LCD display, confirms that the vehicle has received transmitted signals, and alerts the user to system triggers/theft attempts. The transceiver can display 20 different icons on its LCD screen, including transmit, receive, remote start, arm, disarm, hood, trunk, door ajar, sensors etc.
Better than a separate pager, this handy transceiver does it all – controls your system, and communicates back from your vehicle. Plus, it’s small enough to fit comfortably in your pocket. Look for it in 2002.
I'm pretty excited about this. I always thought 2-way LCD alarm displays were cool, but I'm very loyal to good manufacturer names. I'm sure the very first units to come out will be kinda buggy or not as packed with features, but after some R&D along with customer input, I'm sure they will be awesome in the next few years.
Well... I just got off the phone with my friend that is the DEI dealer, and he told me this was supposed to be out last summer. Another thing he told me is that all these other 2-way alarms aren't FCC certified. They have been selling their systems illegally, but the FCC doesn't do anything about it. The new DEI 2-way stuff is FCC certified.
