This must have been one of the simplest things I'v edone. All that was needed was a little wire rerouting and that was it.

If you can't tell, it's where the jack goes.

Very nice, thats a really good idea, maybe some carpeting or mirrors on the inside may finish it off nicely. Have you noticed a difference in the performance of your sound system after you installed it?

Thanks . I just got home from work, and I noticed my light dim alot less. The dimming is still there, but its like a small flutter compared to a prolonged drop in voltage.

Nice install. I'm glad everything went well. And as for the other poster's concerns about exploding, you shouldn't have to worry about that. HOWEVER, should you get hit there, the cap MAY discharge, and MAY cause sparks/fire, or short out some electrical components.

I had a friend who's burned some carpetting because his cap got knocked loose from it's mount.

All in all, I wouldn't worry too much about it. The odds of getting hit are slim, the odds of getting hit right there are even slimmer, the odds of you getting hit right there and cap damage occuring is even slimmer. But nonetheless, it is an added danger to your car.

Thanks for putting me at ease Sin. But I think if the cap came out ok from MAC's car after what it went through, I'll be fine.

here's a night-time pic of the cap and system.

does anyone have any tips on how I can tidy it up a bit? How do you all run your wires, and mount your amps?

you can cut slits in the carpeting on the bottom and run the wires under the carpet. my amp is mounted behind the box so its not visible unless you open the arm rest

I though about that, but I have a solid plywood floor under there so I would have to cut into the wood.

Where did you get that piece of plexiglass from? And where did you put your stock jack?
