8" or 6x9?

ive got a 3rd gen which takes 6x9s, and i was wondering if i stay w/ the same brand and series or speakers (memphis studio series) if an 8inch speakers or 6x9s would b better. i dont really mind the custom work cause i plan or redoin my rear deck neway, im just not going 2 go thru the work of puttin some 8 inch in the doors or nething cause ive already got sum nice 6.5s up front. what im really looking for is some good midbass, i listen to a lot of rock/alternative like tool and incubus...thanx 4 any input

Well it depends what your looking to get out of the rear deck speakers, and the sole perpose you intend to use um for. If it's bass your looking for like so many on here, then the 8"s would be better but an amp is pretty much in order then...If it's just rear fill then 6x9's may be in order. Like i said depends what your after.

im kinda lookin 4 both, right now i have some basic 6x9s w/ 75 watts, but they are base level speakers so im lookin 2 upgrade. i dont want any deep bass, cause i will have 1 or 2 shivas powered seperately (got 1 already, but im hunting for a good deal on a memphis 1000d) so im kinda lookin 4 some rear fill, but with some higher level bass as well, like rock bass, but not rap bass...of course w/ all that im not sure how the 2 will compare in the rear deck, as i was thinkin of angling the 6x9s towards the front of the car, i prolly wont b able 2 do that as much w/ sum 8s cause they will b 2 big and start obstructing my view....

Remember it's thanksgiving weekend, people travel, including me, give me a day to get to it .

But now, first let me say there is no full range speaker at all, meaning somthing that plays from 20hz to 20khz.

2nd, your idea of angling sounds good, however since you are redoing the deck I suggest trying every angle, possiblly using the glass to reflect the sound toward the front, this somtimes works very well.

Now as for what size speaker to use, since you seem to be looking for it to do a small range of work probably say 30hzish to around 3k ( again estmiating, acual range will depend with setup and tuning), I suggest looking at alot of speakers and seeing what best fits this mold. Many different speakers forgetting size can do different things and have different responces, look at the specs get an idea and feel for them and go listen. Best advise i can give for now...I hope this helps some.

if i were you, i'd get pioneer 4 way 6x9's. i have a pair in my accord. and it screams.. it puts out plenty of mid bass also, but i have it tuned to play mostly high's b/c i have subs already...... by far the best 120 bucks i spent(retails for $199).
