Someone please help me out. Im so confused ? ? ?

I have a Pioneer Deh-p7200 headunit
Pioneer TS-A6960R 6x9
NEW PIONEER TS-C504 5 1/4" COMPONENT SET
Pioneer GM-X972 800W 2 Ch Amp.

My question is can I run the 6x9 and components on the amp I mean its 800 watts but Its only 2 channel would that keep this from working?

Please help me. Any and all help is appreciated. Thanks

very simple, 2 channel is for 2 speakers, 4 channels is for 4 speakers....so definately the 2 ch. won't work. I suggest u just push the front speakers, cuz usually 6x9s r kicking hard.

I'm sorry but this is miss information, you can power any number of speakers with any amp provided that the amp can handle the impedance load and the speakers can handle the amount of power. There are some drawbacks to what you wish to do. If you hook the two fronts to one channel and the two rears to the other, you will loose the balance capability (ie move the sound image to the right or left). If you hook the two right speakers to one channel and the two left speakers to the other, you will loose the fade capability (ie move the sound image to the front or back). Finally be weary of the way you hook them up. If you connect two speakers to one channel in parallel, make sure that each speaker can handle half of the RMS power the amp provides at two ohms. If they can't, hook them up in series (or get a 4 channel amp).

Ok so this is what I decided. I am going to buy a 600 watt sub. Now this is my new question the amp is 800 watts so if it pushes the sub at full capacity there will still be 200 watts left over and my components max is 160 watts is there a such thing as sending too much power to the compnents if I send the remaining 200 watts to them? Would this hurt them or distort my sound?

I'm going to try and help you here....According to Crutchfield, your amp is rated for 150x2 or 400x1 rms at 4ohms. If you are buying ONE 600W sub, use your amp to power that one sub only. Then, get a second amp(4 channel) to power the 6x9s and your components. If you's prefer a 2-channel amp, use it to power the components and let the head unit power the 6x9s. The rear speakers are supposed to be used as fill. You mainly want the sound in front of you, so the 6x9s don't need a lot of power. You should not power the subs and components off the same 2-channel amp. The sub will only want low freqs and the components will want full freqs. Hope this helps.

Thank You. I really appreciate you helping me out. I went ahead and bought a 300watt amp today that Im going to just run the components off of. I will keep the original amp for just the sub and let the headunit push the 6x9's. One last question though my components say 160watt max does this mean that the 300 watt amp will be too much or is that ok. Thank you in advance for your help.

The 300W amp will not be too much for your components. You can buy as big of an amp as you want...you just have to make sure that you don't try and use all of the power if your speakers aren't meant to handle it. (i.e. turn up the volume too much)

That was what I was thinking, but it's not so much the volume that you need to worry about. It'd the amop's gain. When you get it all hooked up, you'll need to set the gains on the two amps. The easiest way to do this would be to set your bass and treble to 0(or in the middle, depending on radio). I usually set the bass at -1 or -2. Anyway...WITHOUT the fuses in for the two amps, turn up the radio as loud as it cleanly goes on the volume ****(this will end up about your max volume level). Now add the fuse for the component's amp and make sure the amp gain is all the way down. Turn the radio up again and then raise the gain on the amp until you can just start to hear the front speakers over the rear. This should give you decent staging. Now, add the fuse to the subs amp and raise the gain until you have sufficient fill. There, you're done.
