Buying system on a really tight budget...
Hey guys,
well I am looking to add one 10 inch sub to my Bose system this weekend. I'm looking for a nice clean, tight thump for as little money as possible. I realize I won't be buying a great set-up but for now I just need alittle extra clean bump. Any suggestions? also I'm alittle embarrased top post this but this pakage sounds tempting..

Thanks in advance for the help!

I added a small system to mine by purchasing a $30 Walmart 10" enclosure, a 10" Pioneer subwoofer driver (TS-W10C), and a 200W Pioneer amp (GM-X262, bridged producing 100W nominal/200W max). It... does the trick at least.
The Pioneer amp has a crossover switch set to 80Hz, 12dB/octave slope. (I actually don't use it; instead I use the active crossover in my Alpine deck)
Total cost: $30 enclosure + $50 subwoofer driver + $80 amp.
It worked great in my old '90 Mazda 626, but I think it's a little weak for my 2k Max. I may consider reusing the 10" sub driver by buying another one, putting them in a dual subwoofer enclosure and getting a bigger amp (or using 2 of those GM-X262 amps, one for each driver)
The amp is spec'ed more for the sub's nominal power, not maximum power... the sub can take 120W nominal, 400W max.

Thank you, this is what I was talking about haha. Is the bass clean and tight from that sub?

Thanks for the help guys, but I called all the Best Buys around me and no-one carries the partypack deal Well my brother talked me into getting MTX thunder 4000 10's. He had the 12's and they sounded nice. I can get two 10's, box and MTX amp (RT 202 I believe) and a box for around $250-$270. Circuit City is running a promotion in which you buy any amp $99 and up and you get $60 off any pair of 10's. Dosen't sound too bad. What do you guys think?

It's a little faint in my Maxima though. Worked great on my old Mazda (very clean, audible bass)

Update: I just installed an MTX 202 amp (200 RMS bridged) and two RT 4000 10's in a Q-Logic box. I used a line converter and it took us like 4 hours to get the install perfect. The subs play VERY clear and nice, althouh they will not slam hard enouh for someone reall serious about DB's. Overall I am very happy with the set-up although I now realize the size of my car impacts the performance haha..

My suggestion is you keep saving, don't buy crap just to have to buy other crap later on...you just waste money. Save another couple of months...you went this long without bass you can go a little longer. A good amp sub combo will usally cost no less than 600 bucks retail.

i think u should push one 12 instead of 2 10s. youll be happier in the long run. my old setup was 2 polk 10's and now i have one jl 12w3 dvc, and im much happier with it. youll also be more flexible in which amp you can power it with, and youll save some space and weight. good luck.

I'm selling a box + 2 audiobahn 10"s and a 1000w amp for 275$ plus shipping, It sounds quite good, doubt you'd get any better for the price. Everything is put together and just needs to be wired up. http://forums.maxima.org/showthread....hreadid=235175 If you are still looking that is.

Don't buy from CC. Your better goin to a smaller place where they are willing to deal, and they wont charge you a a ton for installation. They charged my friend $200 at CC and my other friend got it done for under $100 at a small place.
Ussually if u buy a entire system from a smaller place they will cut you a deal.
Just my $.02
