XM installation
Hi guys... I need some advice here.
I am planning on getting the Audiovox or Kenwood XM package from Sirius... most probably the Audiovox since it comes with a built-in FM transmitter.
I need some advice on how to install all of this. Do I need to gat a shop to do this or is it simple enough for me to do the entire setup? I have a stock BOSE system from a 1995 SE.
Where should I mount the antenna? I was debating between the top of the rear windshield or on the trunk itself, starting at the bottom of the windshield. Where would I run the wire from the antenna to the receiver? Do I have to rip apart paneling, etc?
Is there anything else here that I need to know or do?
Hope I can get some advice here. Thanks!

I can help if you had the xm ready HU but not shure about the one your getting
I have my terk antenna inside the car right next to the 3rd brake light on the rear deck and never had any interference problems other than if Im next to a big building or if I drive under bridges, ect.
I used to have it on my trunk lid but it looked ugly so I moved it inside. I have 35% tint also

Now the part that I am most concerned with... how did you run the wire from the antenna in the back deck to your receiver which is installed.... ? (somewhere in the front I assume)
How did you do yours?
my xm reciever is in the trunk so that was easy.
If your putting yours in the front then all you have to do is route the antenna wire(its pretty long)along under the rear seat, and under the carpet as if you were running amp power cable. just make sure you dont pinch or bend the wire in sharp angles or you will brake the insides of the antenna. best way to do it is to remove the door sills and pull up the carpet and stuff it under there.

sorry for the confusion, I ment to say tuner, not reciever. my Pioneer headunit is XM ready, that means I can control the XM through the HU so no need for an extra screen remote. Instead I have just the tuner box thats in the trunk.

No matter what, you are still going to have to run wiring all through the car, right? I'm just trying to find out the easiest way... if I get the AUdiovox kit from Sirius.
i just did this over the weekend, very easy. i had a sirius ready head unit. just one wire from tuner in trunk to back of head unit. another from antenna to tuner. antenna is currently inside on back deck. so far, not to bad reception. i have 35% tint all around. i might be moving it outside, we'll see.

So did you guys also run the wire from the trunk to the front, under the rear seat and under the carpet? What all do I have to rip out in order to do this?
Thanks.
Thanks.
not sure the set up in a '95, but here's how i did mine:
1. tuner goes in trunk
2. single wire goes from tuner to back of head unit. wire is pulled through behind back seats, then run under the plastic molding where the door closes. the plastic pops right up and runs all the way to the front of the car. then you have to remove your head unit and just run the wire in from the back and pop the head unit back on.
3. antenna is on back deck, single wire running from antenna, behind back seats, to tuner in the trunk.
Doesn't get any easier than that. If you decide to put antenna on roof, i think you can just run the wire under the weatherstrip along the window to the base and then run it into your trunk. Haven't gotten that far though.

If I am installing this on a stock BOSE system in a 95, I don't think I need to plug anything into the actual BOSE unit, do I?
Wait... then how do I get it to play on my speakers?? Umm I'm missing something here... I hope the Sirius unit comes with some sort of install instructions (the electrical part now).
