just the woofer
just the woofer
hi, i looked up search, but didnt find exactly what i was looking for. i want to only replace my stock 8" bose subwoofer. I dont know jack about car audio, but some of my friends know a lil bit. since none of them has seen the setup, i dont think they can do much. so here is the question. can i just change out my 8" woofer w/ a better one? i want to change it so that instead of a bose woofer sittin on the deck, it will be a much better one.... i was thinking that it would be a direct/easy swap. also, what is the best 8" available? thanx

Best is a relative term. It varies based on the goals of the system and the space and power limitations. I recommend doing more than simply swapping out hte driver. It will likely require some research into different enclosure types and consideration on your part regarding the budget of the sub system.
well, i dont know about best either.... but is there an 8" that punches as hard as like.... a decent 12" or.... maybe even a 10". i would assume that power wouldnt be needed too much more...... i want a woofer that will be really.... shaky inside the car.........
I know NOTHING about the Bose set up, but my suggestion for an 8 would be the Cerwin Vega Vega 8. $50 if you can find them at the right place, and they kick most 8's butts, and all in its price range!

I don't think you will be able to find a 8 inch sub that will pound like a decent 12 anywere. Now, I have heard that the kicker square subs pound harder that any other sub their size because of the increase in surface cone area.
also want to be sure the subs are free air use.
you can get a pair of tens that will work in a small enclosure if you want to save trunk space but still want that extra umph in the bass area.

for both comments, tho I might suggest even a single 10" if you are really concerned about space.Another option, if all you want is "shaky inside the car," then get a vibrator to put under the seat.
