There had to be more to it than that. Ive done amps/installs with a bit more current draw with no issues. Something else was definately the cause of the melted wire.

THis is a perfect example of why you should use fuseblocks and larger capacitors....

if you look at my site i have streetwire fuse blocks with 80 amp fuses with 2 gauge and 4 gauge wiring there is no problems with my set up and i have a 1 farad cap that handles 1,000 watts. my harness melted due to alt catching fire not improper equipment.

Sorry haven't been keeping up with the thread. Are there any 4th gen's here with a single 15" driver in a vented enclosure? I am thinking of running an RE XXX 15" off of my RE35.1D.

not sure yet, orginally planned to use some kind of tabletop laminate but it'll be hard to cover the rounded edges. i might just in the end paint it. but as it is right now, it doesn't look bad with just bare mdf.

2.5 cu ft with the driver in, tuned to 28 Hz. it's a 12" version, getting about ~480 watts.

sweetcountry thats a nice set up bet its banging. what kind of speaker is it. tuscan you can use L brackets like the guys suggest. where do you plan on mounting them. i have a 1/2 in thick floor board that i had cut out the size of the trunk floor then i fasten anything to the board, depending on what you want to do you can use a smaller pice to secure to the floor then to the speakers. the 810 should sound great i know the power from mine is very nice and very controlable with the digital control system plenty of bass response.

Finally posted pix of the new sub box!

Originally, the 10" RF HX2 sub was in a small sealed enclosure which hardly gave me any below the 50hz range, plus output was very limited. So here's my new box. This is not suppose to be a show stopper as I'm mainly after sound and SPL. So here it is, 1.25 cu.ft. tuned at 32hz SPL box. It's hard to believe its only a 10" the way it hits! Had to turn down the gain on the amp by almost a 1/4 turn! This one hits loooow for a single 10". I have to fix the areas with missing fabric later on.

Not yet... I am still thinking about how to do it. What'll I'll probably do is get 2 pieces of straight metal brackets. Screw one end of it to the bottom side of the box, and then screw the other end to the floor.

I took a video of the sub while its moving but I can't find anything that will convert it to animated gif. My camera saves digital video in MPEG4 format. Do you have anything you can suggest so I can make an avatar out of it?

I see that you put the wire right through the side of the box...did you use some sort of sealant around the wire?

I'm gonna have to redo the video because eventhough the woofer is moving, I know I can make it move more by playing the right kind of track in the cd player. :P I have this windows media encoder that I can use to convert mpg4 to wmv. All I gotta do is figure out how to include the WMV plug-in in the file so that when someone clicks on the link, the movie plays inside the web-browser and doesn't require you to download it and playing it using your own player.

But if you are interested, here's one short video of the HX2 moving, I think I was playing Get Low by Lil Jon. Its only 4 seconds long but loop it and it looks pretty neat.
