Here is my new box that I started this week. I went with ported, I am going to do something similar to that Navigator.

E, I have a question. How much is that plexi side going to cost you. I called some places today and the best I could do was $164 for two 10.75 x 32.25 for the top and bottom (but when the box is turned woofer side down it will be the sides). That is very expensive. There is a place called selectproducts.com and they have 16x32 3/4 plexi for $59 but I would have to cut it. I would be looking at $140 & I would cut or $164 to have my exact measurments cut.

Oh yeah, I finally got the 12W6V2 specs for a bandpass box today (I emailed JL tech support)so that is also an option, but I would have to build another box, but it's fun so I don't mind.

WOW! It looks nice. The plexi for my box measures 37x16.5 and unfortunately will run $183. I'm gonna test the sound with it carpeted for now and if the sound is GOOD then later on in Spring I'll consider the plexi. :budgeted set-up:

I almost finished the false floor tonight, here is a few pics. Click on my sig for more pics, page 5

I still have to do some cutouts to cover up just the holes to protect the plexi. I just put the factory carpet back on for now until I pick some carpet up this week.

Nice job. You kept your spare with that setup, right? Is there heat concern for the amps?

See my homepage for pics. I got the digital camera unpacked now, so I'll get the new HU and EQ shots soon.

Thanks. The spare is still there, the mdf is sitting directly on the spare, I would have had a lot of more room if I had removed it, but for obvious reasons I didn't (65 miles round trip daily). As for the heat, I orded a cross flow fan off the net (selectproducts.com has great prices btw) and should be here one day this week. For now, I left off the carpet and the plexi so it has plenty of room to breathe.

That looks really good studman, good choice on the mirror, I love the look. Do you have a piece that can cover up the amps so you can set stuff in trunk.

I did, but I don't anymore because the old one got broken during the move that I just recently made. I've planning to make another one, but this time, I'm gonna make it wider and thicker than the last one. I'm even gonna carpet it to match as well.

Damn, Maxxbass27, your setup is crazy. Those things must be so loud. I know the xxx's are at the top for spl subs. How much power are you runngin to them. Does the back of your car sag with a full car and that box back there?

Just figured out how to insert the pic (not just the link) into a post, so I figured I would post an updated pic taken at a recent show:

and:

and finally:

Excuse the quality of the photo, but the sun was directly into the camera which created the haze effect.

JAIMECBR900 - does your subs vent out into the cabin through the armrest? any pics from inside?

I just want to clarify for everyone, because I've heard this sort of question a lot. Excuse me if I misunderstood you, Johnnyo. But any sub system firing through the rear seats is going to penetrate into the passenger compartment. It doesn't need an armrest, vent, or a port through the package shelf. Bass notes will go right through the rear seats...unless you have a steel barrier a few inches thick!

Thanks for clarifying Tony (nice system btw) But i'm not really talking about bass notes penetrating through the seats, i'm talking about something like how you did your subs, where the subs are visible inside the cabin and sealed from the trunk... Just wondering how JAIMECBR900's subs looked like from inside the cabin and whether the sub setup was like yours.

First off, thanks for all the compliments, but all the praise should go to my installer. I designed the entire system and components, but the execution came from him. It took him almost a month to finish. We used automotive paint to match the car color. All pieces were first completed, pre-assembled to make sure of fit, then sent to the body shop to paint in the booth, and finally re-assembled in the car for the finished product.

Tony is also correct. Sub frequencies will penetrate thru just about any rear seat w/o too much problem. Just to clarify, this install is NOT in a Maxima. It's on a Lexus GS400. I'm a long time member of the Maxima community and still try and contribute. I still have my 95, which hopefully will come out of the shop soon.

The subs are facing into the box only as part of the design. I personally liked the look of the magnet structure better than the just the cone. The cone is nice, just not as nice as the magnets. It also makes for a more impressive look at the subs. I also designed the system to be able to still use the greater majority of my trunk, which I can still use when the factory floor mat is in place. To answer your question, there is no armrest walk-thru. But there is this:

BTW, the stuff all over is just a reflection from the direct sunlight, it's not dust or dirt stuff.

I had to break this up into a 2 part response since I had too many images according to the org....

(continued from previous post):

I also had the dash redone to custom fit the HU, Super AFCII, and both my gauges. Like this:

We also did the door inserts that previously were woodgrain (as was the dash) the same way. Like this:

We also did the rear trunk lid in fiberglass too. My future mods will be to add a couple of monitors here:

BTW, this is the car with a few updates too:

Can yall tell I love showing my stuff off?????

Thanks R5.

Thanks Tony. That is exactly what I was going for. Enough show to be competitive if I want, but first and foremost functional. This is my daily driver and even though I could of filled the trunk with subs, I really didn't wanna. I also used the factory location for my front staging. It's not optimal, but with balanced 16v outputs and some time alignment features in the HU I can compensate. Pods would have been optimal, but I also have the e-brake in the way on my side.

That;s great, I thought my max had a bunch of rattles. Can't imagine what your car is like. Let us know what goes out first, the trunk lid or your mellon.

Mine only set me back 1300 and its not finished. So that makes me think that you guys are spending closer to 10G's on ICE in a Maxima. What happened to fast and light philosophy.
