Where to run the power wire

I hate to ask this b/c I know it has been asked many times before but where is the best place to run the power wire? The door jam? I think that is the best place besides through the fire wall. I just don't want to see any wires. Any suggestions? Any succesful attempts at running through the firewall?

I would think about running under the car but I am putting the amp under the front passenger seat. But it does seem like it would be more prone to be damaged under the car.

Fosgate Fan,where did you run your power wire?

Where though? I didn't see any where that I could run it. Did you drill? If yes then where?

if you get down under the steering wheel, you'll see a wire with a rubber grommet running through the firewall. just above and to the left of the brake pedal (right above where the clutch would be if you had a manual). Pull out the grommet, and you can squeeze a 4GA wire in there. It's a ***** to do, but it's easier than drilling. Then have a friend look down the back of the engine bay behind the strut tower. If you coordinate properly, you can figure out how to get a hold of the wire and then route it through the engine bay to the battery. It takes a bit of effort and some patience, but once you get it done, the rest is easy.

As for the grommet, just let it hang. the 4GA pretty much covers most of the hole, so you won't get that much air leaking in. I don't feel anything at my legs.

I ran it through the firewall, down the driver side dash area, and under the front and rear driver side door trim pieces. Then it finally goes into the trunk under the seat cushion. Best part is that you can't see the wire.

I think the grommet isn’t necessarily intended for sealing the hole from leaks, but for protecting your power wire from being cut against the bare metal..

when you drill through the firewall, it can leave some sharp edges. when the wire moves around, the metal can cut through the wire's insulation, which can cause a short.

I agree here on this point, but understand that the hole I was talking about was already there, and i checked before i ran the wire. The edges were decently smooth. Nothing sharp there.

well, then i guess a grommet isn't needed. but wrap the area that will touch the metal with some electrical tape (for extra rubbing protection), just for peace at mind.

Sorry it took so long, but here are the pics

Engine Bay:

Inside the Car:

I don't know how the stereo shop drilled the hole..

But what I do know is when I took my system out. That is the hole the wire was run through.

The inside pic is almost directly above the deadpedal

If you for some reason can't see the pics.. They are on page 2 of my cardomain site.

Thanks a bunch. I read this post right before I was about to go find another way to run the wire. I saw that spot before except I would have never thought that I would end up not hitting anything. That made my day a whole lot easier. Thanks!
